Soccer Saturday: Your Running Commentary

Clint Dempsey and Fulham won't be given much of a chance to slow down first-place Manchester United today, but with Wayne Rooney suspended and Manchester United facing a vital Champions League match next week, the Cottagers just might be in position to pull the upset.

The match could also offer us a preview of this summer's Gold Cup, where Dempsey and United striker Javier Hernandez could also face off. The two North American strikers have broken double digits in goals and will be battling for the Premier League lead in goals among CONCACAF players.

If you missed Barcelona's Champions League thrashing of Shakhtar Donetsk, you won't want to miss the Spanish champions in action against Almeria, but if you're hoping to catch a glimpse of the next Lionel Messi instead of the actual Lionel Messi, than the Argentina-Brazil Under-17 match could be your match to watch.

If you will be watching today's action, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

  1. wow, the RSL-NE ref (Jasen Anno) has (counting that game) now reffed 20 MLS games and has given out 15 red cards. That is astonishing.

  2. I’ve had 1 or 2 head scratchers for blackouts in the 4 or so years I’ve had it, but it is almost always ok. The irritating one to me is for games on Galavision, which I can’t even get.

  3. Pretty sure a Euro qualifier would cap-tie him, but I really don’t think it’s a concern. He seemed really happy and proud to represent the US.

  4. I don’t think you understand how freedom of speech works… the First Amendment begins with “Congress shall make no law…” and Ives is not Congress.

You should buy foxsoccertvisajoke.com, no one could censor you there.

  5. I post about how crap foxsoccer.tv is and Ives has to take it down. I’m sorry, if I pay 15 dollars for something I want it to work. freedom of speech

  6. Normally I’d say you should be ok. But for some reason the MLS tv listings for today say that the game is blacked out in LA and DC on MatchDayLive (don’t know about Direct Kick’s blackout rules), which is really strange since there is no DC local tv listing for the game.

  7. Rough day for Zak Whitbread and Norwich. They lose 3-0 to promotion rivals Swansea…and Whitbread is responsible for the third goal as his poor backpass is intercepted and put in the net (granted the game was done and dusted by then)

  8. im about to order Direct Kick since the DCU/LA game isn’t on CSN (local DC sports). am I right to think I only need to worry about a blackout for Direct TV if the game I want to watch is on a local network (like CSN) or a national channel (like ESPN)?
