Where will you be watching Real Salt Lake vs. Monterrey?

RSL (Reuters Pictures)

The biggest game in American club soccer history takes place in Sandy, Utah, tonight, when Real Salt Lake tries to hold on to or build off of its 2-2 draw at Monterrey in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final at Rio Tinto Stadium (10 p.m., Fox Soccer Channel/Telefutura).

With an aggregate-goal victory, RSL would become the first Major League Soccer team to win the Champions League since it changed to the group-stage/knockout-stage format. A win would also secure a berth in December's FIFA Club World Cup, which would be another first for an MLS club.

You might want to commemorate a game of this magnitude by watching it somewhere special. Know of any bars or restaurants in your city hosting a watch party? Are you hosting a watch party at your place (and would you mind if random SBI readers showed up)? Plan on just catching it from the sofa?

Where will you be watching tonight's game?

  1. King’s Head always has the Galaxy games…Nice atmosphere every time.
I have had them put on other USA and MLS games as well. They would put this one on for sure.

  2. That was my plan too… until I realized I’d be working during the game (it’s 10 am where I am in Mongolia).

Unfortunately CONCACAF TV doesn’t offer on-demand replays of Champions League matches. I would love to watch it before hearing the score.

  3. Ben, please suggest to us how else the team was supposed to make sure that RSL’s stadium is full of RSL supporters? Recall the Santos or C.A. games of the last few years for a reference of how they did not want tonight to look. And no, telling the browner-skinned customers to head to the back of the line is not a valid suggestion.

They did open the tickets up to previous single-game ticket purchasers before they went on sale to the general public, which they did do, so you must not be much of a real fan, as you put it, if you could not get tickets. You either were not paying attention or had yet to purchase tickets for a game.

Pretty great way to sell tickets, if you ask me. Plus, it gave season ticket holders, who are the real fans (again, to use your phrase) a great perk for supporting the team every game.

  5. What do you do in Manizales? I visited there once … beautiful place. Always thought if I went back a second time, I’d never leave.

I’ll be watching on ESPN Chile in my apartment near Valparaiso.

  7. In my apartment in the La Rambla neighborhood of Manizales, Colombia. I’m bailing out on attending the Once Caldas (who have not paid Juan Carlos Osorio or the team in months) v. Cruzeiro match (Copa Libertadores) 2 blocks away to watch this one. This section of 107ist says ‘Go RSL’, though I won’t be saying that this weekend when they come to Jeld Wyn!

  9. Concacaf.com here too. I’m not paying for FSC with its minimal coverage of MLS. I hope we get a VS deal in the future.

  10. This is the tough call. If the streams sync up with the TV I might try to watch in HD with the sound down and stream the audio in English from the laptop.

I do know a little spanish but have alway had the hardest time really following the game with that audio. I always get distracted trying to figure out what they’re saying.

You guys who watch the spanish feed, do they homer for the Mexican teams or is the commentary fairly balanced?

    COME ON RSL!!!!!!!

  13. On FSC on my couch less than 2 miles from the stadium because of the poor way RSL sold tickets to the match. Don’t know a season ticket holder (and can’t afford them yourself)? Too bad.

  14. Probably watching from an internet stream, huddled in a corner of my apt sipping tea. I’m horribly sick, but no illness will keep me from enjoying this second leg. Best of luck rsl!
