FC Dallas to make player announcement on Thursday

FC Dallas has scheduled a press conference following Thursday's training session at Pizza Hut Park to make a player announcement.

As of now there are no hints as to what the player announcement will be, but it appears it will be a major one as club president and CEO Doug Quinn will be there along with chairman Clark Hunt, head coach Schellas Hyndman and FC Dallas players.

Last week's waiver of Kyle Davies opened up a spot on Dallas' roster, and the club could be filling it with a new player.

Dallas is in need of some attacking help to make up for the loss of reigning MLS MVP David Ferreira, and Colombian striker Fabian Castillo has been the only major acquisition in an off-season that saw the team lose several starters.

Who do you think Dallas will be signing? Which player would you like to see the reigning Western Conference champions add?

  1. It’s nobody! You had an announcement to say you weren’t signing anyone new, only resigning a player that nobody can quite figure out where his best position is!

    Hahahaha

If only Dallas put this much effort into promoting their team to local non-fans.

  2. The re-signing of Brek Shea…

That’s what this PC was about?

It’s cool that a great talent is staying in MLS, but how did this get speculated to a new player acquisition?

  3. Not necessarily.

AC just won Serie A and Seedorf is supposed to be let go, he could would be eligible for a free transfer and announcing the move this early would allow fans to give their due respect.

I’d love to see Seedorf here in the US – old but still pure class and mostly injury free, strong ox-like too.

But of course, I’d prefer him at DC!

  4. sinha is the man. a quality playmaker very consistent. has been in and out of the mexican national team lineup could easily crack the USMNT midfield.

  5. In Davino’s defense he still gets quality minutes for a top mexican league team. I guess he had a haard time adjusting to a foreign league.

  6. Sinha did say he was leaving Toluca for either Houston or LA because of the fan bases…could dallas have capitalized on the fact that he was named houston as a destination?

  7. If it is Pavel Pardo that will be announced tomorrow, it is definitely an interesting choice. Pavel Pardo is a defensive center mid, no? Daniel Hernandez is currently filling that position. So they would be bringing a thirty four year old to replace the current thirty four year old in the midfield? Pardo is not a bad player, definitely an experienced quality veteran. If he is headed to Dallas, I hope he has a better run at it than Duilio Davino did.

  8. Chivas USA is first on the allocation order sooooo we have dibs on Torres if he leaves Pachuca. This is why we said no to Benny F.

    Thanks for playing, though!

  9. For the Ryan Guy haters here, yeah, he’s not the big name or anything you’re hoping for, but he has a solid goal record in Ireland and in the first few stages of the Europa league. He’ll do fine.

  10. its not torres or gomez likely because they would have been “released” by or left Pachuca & we would have heard about it… they were put on the trade list not released and it isnt the transfer market at the moment. Its a possibility but I certainly wouldnt be so confident about those 2

  11. there was a press conference for Homegrown signings earlier in the year & we found out about this a day prior. I will be surprised if its a big name…

  12. The spelling on this thread is rediculous.

Here’s a hint: a red squiggly line under a word means “try again”.

  13. depends on where you want him to play… hes a CM but could easily be converted to a CAM… he would also be the best set peice taker on this team… Torres is very versatile

  14. bro, frisco is the fastest growing city in the usa… get over it already… 20 bucks isnt rediculous at all to see a game… dallas just has sucky fans, trust me i live here… its not a homegrown player, and its not ryan guy… its either gringo torres or hercules… either would make a gream addition to the defending western conference champs

  15. With that said, I would suggest it is most likely about Ryan Guy. I know, rediculous. Hopefully I am wrong, but it would be typical FC Dallas.

  16. Could also be someone whos contract is up in less than six months and won’t play until the next window. Like Beckham. My guess is someone from the Mexican League.

  17. If you do not know how FC Dallas operates, they sell their best players every season, and then have crazy Player Announcing parties for homegrown people like Ruben Luna. Not too mention, they charge rediculous prices for everything and no one goes to the games because it is an hour away from anything relevant. As a local, I want to support them so bad, but they tend to alienate us in every single way.

  18. Maybe the press conference will include one of his trademark flip throw-ins. Now that’s worthy of a press conference, no?

  20. dont get all hyped up…its probably just Ryan Guy looking at the fact that we are hearing about this 1 day prior and he has been on trial. I maybe wrong, but that is the most logical guess
