Facing a two-goal deficit and the possibility of missing out on the U.S. Open Cup final field for the first time in club history, the Chicago Fire turned it up another notch.
Orr Barouch and Yamith Cuesta scored second-half goals to counter Ellis McLoughlin and Justin Morrow's first-half strikes, and the Fire outlasted the San Jose Earthquakes, 2-2 (5-4 in penalties), to win their Open Cup play-in match Tuesday night.
The Fire, which went down a man after Gonzalo Segares was sent off in the eighth minute of extra time, had successful penalties converted by Marco Pappa, Cristian Nazarit, Barouch, Dominic Oduro and Daniel Paladini. Only Logan Pause missed his attempt. San Jose, meanwhile, had Chris Wondolowski, Ramiro Corrales, Khari Stephenson and Brandon McDonald convert their spot kicks, but Sam Cronin missed high and Scott Sealy hit the crossbar to seal the Fire victory.
Sporting Kansas City hosts the New England Revolution tonight in another play-in match at the Blue Valley District Activities Complex to determine Major League Soccer's final participant in the Open Cup field of 40.

Thanks man.
Sam Cronin also hit the crossbar
Fire needed a win bad even if it was in penalties.

Here’s the MLS qualifying bracket too: http://thecup.us/2011-us-open-cup-qualifying-mls-bracket/
Anybody know where a list of qualified teams can be found?
Sporting actually get to host a match. Awesome for them. Even though it’s not in Livestrong, it’s still home.
