  1. Blah..really can’t be bothered with this. Been there, done that. Plus they are making season ticket holders pay for the game….last year was included in the package.

  2. “We dont want to see how whiter Ryan Giggs hair got. I know it attracts the usual idiots with their digital cameras and Real and Man U Jerseys , but how about something different for the real fans?”

Except, fun fact: people do still want to come watch Ryan Giggs. And Rooney. And Chicharito. And Scholes. Are they any less of a fan than you are just because they want to come watch their favorite club? Who cares if it’s a European club? It doesn’t make it any less legitimate than whoever you support.

Other clubs could certainly come to the United States and fill stadiums. Even as an Arsenal supporter, they are simply not one of them. If you put Manchester United in the New Meadowlands, that place is probably going to sell out. Arsenal? Half-full, maybe 60%, at best.

Your wishes are your wishes, fine, roll with it. But don’t put down other people and create a false sense of superiority for yourself by lamenting the fact that the world’s most famous, most valuable, and most followed clubs are coming to the US, and that you’re seemingly above it.

  5. Maybe once these friendlies stop selling out places like the Rose Bowl and LA Coliseum, they’ll stop having them. Until then, your point is clearly off-base, so let’s not get indignant about something that you have no reason to get indignant about, alright? If people wanted to see Olympique Marseilles in the US, they’d already be here, and you damn well know that.

  6. Every year the same s**#t Man U to NY, Real to play LA. What about Bundesliga teams, Borussia Dortmund? What about other EPL teams like Arsenal. Dutch teams?French? American fans are not that stupid and want more variety. Please make it more interesting and don’t always bring the same team with the Mourinho’s C Ronaldo’s….We dont want to see how whiter Ryan Giggs hair got. I know it attracts the usual idiots with their digital cameras and Real and Man U Jerseys , but how about something different for the real fans?

  7. Seriously? I can’t take my kids to Madrid but I can take em to LA. My kids don’t care if its a friendly.

I believe it’s long term advertising for MLS, plus they will definitely make money off the tour.

  9. Why play these pointless friendlies? Oh you say they are trying to squeeze every last drop out of Beckham? Oh okay, I guess.

  10. New President didn’t care to honor agreement. Real Madrid doesn’t care about Utah when compared to Los Angeles

  11. Although Checketts has proven himself to be a great owner for RSL, his arrangement with Madrid (supposed to have friendlies every 2 years, training programs and player development/swap) appears to be a blunder. For a small market like Salt Lake, he would have been much better off partnering with a team like Tottenham or Everton. Now we carry Madrid’s name, yet have almost zero affiliation. Curious what happened to the relationship, other than money.
