Must-See Smack Talk: Houston Dynamo vs. FC Dallas

DynamoBillboard

The Houston Dynamo planted its flag in Dallas a couple of weeks ago with the above billboard to build the hype for this weekend's match against Texas rival FC Dallas.

The Red Stripes started their response by flying a "Dallas Til I Die" banner over Houston's Robertson Stadium, and now and their fans have gotten into the act.

Check out this video that FC Dallas released just a couple of days before the teams meet this weekend in Houston:

  1. embarrassingly pathetic video from Baja Oklahoma, but actually kinda perfect — you can see all the Frisco soccer moms and their little rugrats

  4. It’s very common for sports teams to play outside of the actual city. Rangers and Cowboys play in Arlington, but nobody complains about that.

  5. Not an FCD fan, but they are unbeaten since the4 moment Ferreira was injured. 7 games unbeaten and unscored on in too long to remember.

Consider me surprised. I never thought that would happen when the MVP got hurt. I am starting to think they could do well in CCL if they take it serious. They are starting to get some depth. They just need to get healthy again.

  6. Rivalries aren’t born out of some marketing campaign. They have to grow organically by the fans. They have to be earned.

  7. Are they trying to take 5 FCD’s 50 fans? FCD should be the one’s using gimmicks. At least this one makes more sense than Artificial Chivas’

  8. speak ignorance? Because it was ignorant to say no one goes to “one of the nicest cities in the US” to watch FCD. Houston doesn’t have near the attendance issuses Dallas does. As someone said in an earlier post, most people in Dallas don’t even know they have a MLS club. Sorry to speak such ignorance about your club

  9. Maybe one of the most simple-minded rivalry campaigns ever. Most people in the video were obviously NOT super passionate about their hate, or had little to support their argument. At times, the video was hard to watch.

  10. I was at the game where the #Weallhatehouston banner was flown (against RBNY) and I can confidently say that everyone in our SOLD-OUT house either 1) didn’t see it 2) didn’t understand it was from FCD 3) Laughed off the notion that Dallas is a good place for any cognizant organism.

(Paraphrase) – “People in Houston are rude.” while holding a #WeallhateHouston banner!

To those who says Texas sucks, I don’t disagree. I’ve been living here for 18 years. but anyone who says Dallas is better than Houston is beyond mental.

  11. I couldn’t watch the whole video, but I was impressed they were able to get 2009 Sacha Kljestan (at 1:21) to speak on their behalf.
