SBI MLS Player of the Month: Landon Donovan

After a forgettable April, Landon Donovan emerged in May to remind us why he's considered the best player in Major League Soccer.

The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder a league high six goals in May, leading the Galaxy to a 4-1-2 record and commanding lead atop the Western Conference. The result made Donovan the easy choice for SBI's MLS Player of the Month of May.

Donovan edged out other worthy candidates including FC Dallas' Daniel Hernandez, Portland's Jack Jewsbury and San Jose's Chris Wondolowski.

What did you think of Donovan's month? Was he your pick for the top player in MLS in May?

  1. (Also a DC Fan) This is just based off the month, not the whole season. CD has been injured for half of it, only played 2 games or so if I’m not mistaken.

  2. There were certainly other worthy candidates but if there was voting Donovan would deserve for it to be unanimous. Funny how this all started after he basically said “I’m no longer a goal scorer”…

  3. i guess you overlooked the part where i wrote “honorable mention”. I agree with the choice of donovan. Given the time he played before re-injurying himself CD was having a ‘good’ season, not great mind you, but good. I feel coming off his injurys merits an “honorable mention”. The other players i mention are also having strong season, but Donovan still edges them out.

  4. Davies for player of the month? As a DC fan he has been injured for most of it and was hardly inspiring the rest…

  5. “Considered” the best player in MLS? Come on Ives. He’s the best player in MLS, period. It’s not even a question.
