SBI MLS Player of the Week: Jean Alexandre

With Alvaro Saborio away on international duty, Real Salt Lake needed a striker to step in and fill the void and Jean Alexandre did just that, registering a goal and assist in an RSL win. The performance made Alexandre the clear choice for SBI MLS Player of the Week honors.

Alexandre edged out San Jose striker Steven Lenhart, FC Dallas' Marvin Chavez and Chivas USA's Marcos Mondaini for this week's honors for leading Real Salt Lake to one of the few victories and multi-goal games in MLS last weekend. A former first-round MLS Draft pick, Alexandre showed off the flash that made RSL draft him in 2009. A defensive midfielder by trade, Alexandre starred as a forward at Lynn University, but until this past weekend, he had yet to flash the goal-scoring ability that made him a first-round target by Real Salt Lake.

What did you think of Alexandre's performance? Who got your vote for this week's Player of the Week honors?

  1. The first goal was a sweet individual piece of skill. This tough stretch will actually make RSL even deeper as a bunch of second string players start to come on. One can see this same thing with FCD too.
    Keep it up RSL.

  2. It’s good to see someone come thru. I thought RSL played more of their game. Now that Espindola and Jean have broke the scoring drought we can move on. Keep it up guys!!!

  3. Vancouver is crap, but both the goal and the assist showed composure, vision and skill. We’ll see what Jean can do against Columbus and Philly this week, which will be more of a measure of his merit.

  4. Not something I ever expected to see at the beginning of the season. But he had a good showing (even if it was against Vanc.).

I’d love to see him replicate the performance at least once this week.

    Do it RSL.
