It's a win or else scenario for the U.S. men's national team tonight in CONCACAF Gold Cup action as the Americans take on Guadeloupe needing a victory to avoid an embarrassing tournament exit, or a brutal quarterfinal match-up against Mexico.
The United States needs a win or a draw tonight at Livestrong Sporting Park (9 p.m., Fox Soccer Channel/Telefutura) to secure passage into the Gold Cup quarterfinals. Here's a list of all of the scenarios in play tonight, involving both the Panama-Canada and U.S. Guadeloupe matches.
Here is my Fox Soccer preview of the match. Feel free to give it a read as you prepare for tonight's match.
SBI will be providing live commentary before the USA-Guadeloupe match, including coverage of the big Canada-Panama Group C tilt, so feel free to follow along here. As always, you are welcome to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
Enjoy the action (Live commentary is after the jump):
There goes 1st place….
agree on Edu and I think agudelo will make an excellent 2nd half sub
Bedoya should get the start. He showed very well against Panama.
dumb question..but do the players have enough room and time to properly warm-up before the game?
same here
You can’t be serious with Altidore on the bench.
Donovan needs to show up tonight, and distribute the ball going forward. If that happens, we are golden. That will free up Dempsey so we can finally put pressure on their back line, not ours. Creativity and inspired play is what I’m looking for tonight.
Same here in Colorado.
You should be able to watch the USA game. Unfortunately, every game I’ve tried to watch not involving the US has been blocked.
Another 4-4-2!!???? WTF???
I would have liked to see Edu starting in midfield instead of Jones, and Dempsey starting as a forward alongside Wondolowski.
Would have liked to see Jozy Altidore on the bench.

Surprised to see Wondo starting. Shocked to see Adu not on the bench.
I agree with the first part, but why would Jones not deserve another start? He was the second best player on the field against Panama.
+1
what’s with the concacaf feed? The Canada/Panama game is showing it as “geoblocked” for me here in Florida. USA gonna be the same?
Nice opportunity for Wondo. I’m pulling for him.
Found it, nevermind. Head-to-head.
Surprise surprise, another damn 442 with little speed on the left wing. Yayyy. And how did Jones deserve another start?? please tell me how???
Thanks
Anyone know if the Concacaf stream is available internationally?
Wondo may be heading into Kreis territory. I remember when Kreis couldn’t impress in his call-ups. From what I found, 14 games and 1 goal for Kreis, someone I think all Nat fans were rooting for.
Ultimately it might be the best thing if the US lost. If not this game then perhaps the next, because Bob is not cutting it. Mexico has improved as a team, the US has gone backwards. Glad to see Lichaj in at left back.
Starters: 1-Tim Howard; 6-Steve Cherundolo, 21-Clarence Goodson, 3-Carlos Bocanegra (capt.), 14-Eric Lichaj; 8-Clint Dempsey, 4-Michael Bradley, 13-Jermaine Jones, 10-Landon Donovan; 17-Jozy Altidore, 11-Chris Wondolowski
Subs: 5-Oguchi Onyewu, 7-Maurice Edu, 9-Juan Agudelo,12-Jonathan Bornstein, 16-Sacha Kljestan, 22-Alejandro Bedoya, 23-Marcus Hahnemann
Was curious to see Adu tonight. Darn.
Is the first tiebreaker head-to-head or goal difference?
what is the lineup?
…then he creates and scores a pentalty…wow
Gosh wondo and jozy, i think they struggle but i say dempsey gets two, cause he seems like hes the only one that has showed up in the tourney.
Penal! Penal! Penalty kick for Canada!
CANADA PK
Wondo will score 2nite… Watch. (;
Ok… I’m happy with that. I wanted Boca CB for sure w Lichaj LB. And let’s be honest… Wondo miss vs panama was a fluke as was the loss itself. Let’s hope Canada syrup can beat the panamanians and I’m sure we win infatically tonight.
I would say it has more to do with loyalty to current players, comfort level, verses being progressive. But from what I can tell the majority of 2 term coaches fail, big time.
Wow!! Wondo paired with Jozy? Great, I don’t like the feeling i’m getting right now. I think I’m gonna be sick.
You are not a lone…
I was really hoping for Edu in mid field.
I personally feel that the whole two term thing is so blown out of proportion. The main reason a lot of coaches don’t do well over two terms on the international is because tactics tend to change over 4 years. Bob Bradley is a guy who can adapt really quickly. That’s why I think two terms will work for him.
oh my god please tell me that bit about wONDO starting isn’t true!
No line-up still… Hmm…
yes
[wondering] If I want the U.S. to do well in 2014, does that mean I want the U.S. to lose tonight?
Just arrived at Livestrong… Oh man, what a venue. Beautiful, intimate place.
It’s alright, I’ve had that problem. But yes, they are 🙂
Canada is all over Panama….pressuring every play and creating opportunities in the box. To even imagine that Panama beat us Amplifies the inconsistency and lack of technical planning of Bob Bradley……
De Rosario….MLS….NYRB is stealing the show!!!!!….
I truely believe Bradley is a good coach, actaully an excellent coach but this 2 term deal just doesn’t work. I hope before 2014 we see a change for the sake of change
This may sound totally ignorant, but are Telemundo and Telefutura different channels?
No disrespect to the good people of Guadeloupe, their supports or their football team. However, if the USA loses this game Wednesday morning BB should be out of a job.
In 20 minutes… Always hour before
any word on a lineup yet?
I keep hearing that Guadeloupe has had multiple red cards this tournament thus far. Do you just miss one game for a red card or two (and therefore the rest of group play)? Are they going to be missing any of their better players tonight?
