It's a win or else scenario for the U.S. men's national team tonight in CONCACAF Gold Cup action as the Americans take on Guadeloupe needing a victory to avoid an embarrassing tournament exit, or a brutal quarterfinal match-up against Mexico.
The United States needs a win or a draw tonight at Livestrong Sporting Park (9 p.m., Fox Soccer Channel/Telefutura) to secure passage into the Gold Cup quarterfinals. Here's a list of all of the scenarios in play tonight, involving both the Panama-Canada and U.S. Guadeloupe matches.

This is an elimination game. Why would we play a new formation? Of couse we’d play 4-4-2. Every other formation we have ever played has been awful. We aren’t going to experiment during an elimination match.

What does Edu bring to the team that Jones doesn’t? In my opinion nothing. In fact, I think Jones is a better player at this stage, at least as far as the USMNT is concerned.
I think Edu is a good player, but if I am choosing between Jones & Edu, I think Jones is the better pick.
Even if Wondolowski scores tonight, he’s a wasted roster spot. There’s a long list of players who should be here instead of him. It’s like having Casey Conor on the roster again. Different style player, same result. He isn’t international caliber.
If – and this is a big if – we play Mexico in this tournament, any advantage we may have had roster and depth-wise because of their suspensions has been neutralized by Bradley’s poor roster selections and the Panama debacle. We may as well have a roster of 18 with the selections of Wondo, Adu, Rogers, & Bornstein, In fact, even the less mobile Oneywu doesn’t bring much to the table right now.
