  1. If anyone undertands soccer and or athletics for that matter… It’s pretty clear who the most composed person with the ball in the drill was.

  2. Nothing to do with the drill, but everyone knew going into the Spain game and the GC (or at least they should have known) that the US does not have any forwards scoring goals with regularity, except Wondo and even his admirers will admit might be a bit slow for international soccer. So scoring goals was always the weakest part of this team. Of course, despite all the flack he has taken, Altidore did score 2 goals in 4 games.

The defense is composed of a combo of old and young players. It is sometimes too slow to deal with fast players or too naive to keep track of players making deceptive movements.

The engine of the team is in the midfield, but so far only Dempsey and Bradley have consistently played well, others have disappeared for long stretches and even Dempsey and Bradley have had some miscues.

Howard has done well in goal, but he will not score many goals for the US.

Looking into the future, will anyone step into the forward spots who can get some goals and open up more space for our attack? Will our young backs learn rapidly enough? Will Donavon and Jones provide the quality of play we expect of them?

  3. Remember in the World Cup when Spain won almost every game by 1 or 2 goals and won the World Cup….Don’t worry hopefully Mexico and Jamaica have run out of goals….side note we do need someone who will put the ball in the back of the net. I say bring in Freddy

  4. Agreed…every time his touch was clean and accurate back to the other line. Honestly, and I’m fulling expecting some backlash here, but I think we need to see Freddy placed into an attacking role (whether its underneath the forwards or on the wing somewhere). Sacha “The Virtuoso” Kljestan isn’t getting it done for me…maybe it is (as we’ve all literally almost thrown up in our mouths over) time for Freddy to get his second Steve Howe chance…why not…

  5. Maybe it’s Roy Hodgson lecturing us.

Maybe we should pay attention. Clearly someone who can watch a bunch players do a juggling drill for 72 seconds (which the US soccer blog said was for warm-up) and diagnose exactly what’s wrong with practice methods must be a footballing genius.

  6. RFK is one of the oldest homes to the USMNT. It’s also home to the team with the most MLS Cup titles. It may not be beautiful, but there’s a lot of history there. Show it some respect! 🙂 (Queue the DCU moving to Baltimore buttheads…. NOW)

  7. People have been freaking out lately (Not so much on this thread). I understand why but mark my words. We’re gona take care of Jamaica on Sunday. You heard it first from Gabriel Cash’s armani suit wearing partner, Ray Tango!

  8. Just saying. PPL Park wasn’t. LSP wasn’t. And all I have heard is they started the demolition of the old FMC plant back in March. Haven’t heard anything since then.

  9. I thought Bradley an Dolo were the best. It’s amazing how better Bradley gets every year.

Some troll will point how Bradley isn’t, say, Xavi, and that’s not point. The point is the dude just keeps improving every year.

Besides, go to the US locker room. Leo Messi isn’t walking through that door. Pele isn’t walking through that door. Turkish 2nd division role players aren’t walking through that… Oh, wait a minute….

  11. Also, in an optimistic opinion the finishing drill was to epic to show. We’ll have to wait till Sunday to see three goals and I’ll be there so I truly hope that happens. That said, realistically were gonna have to be on our A game to beat an in form Jamaican team.

  12. Yeah, I was going to remark on how Bradley juggles like he plays: simple passes, composed on the ball. He may not be Xavi, but he impresses me with his composure.

  13. It would be awesome if it was a one touch then volley on goal drill. Not sure that this necessary makes for better finishing just a cool drill to see.

  14. Wait juggling is a defenders defining skill. NOOOOO Tim will never make it as a full timer for the USMNT. Kidding. Enjoyed the video.

  15. We won’t be making the Gold Cup final so it isn’t important. Quakes definently need him, I Desperately want to see them win the MLS Cup before they move to the new stadium next spring.

  16. Sunday? The Gold Cup Final is scheduled for two Saturdays from now. I would expect Wondo back in San Jose until June 26th at the earliest.

    Let’s go USA!

  18. I’d like to see Spain do this drill and see how many awkward touches have to be made. We all know Spain are more skilled, but it’d be an interesting visual comparison.

  20. Whatever they’re practicing it sure isn’t effective, they should commit more of their efforts toward correcting those leaky goals, before they are completely dismantled.
