  1. i’m surprised 2% still went to bradley out of 2000 votes…that means 20 members of his family and friends still visit SBI…lol

  2. Maybe this will help. US development of youth is a morass of competing clubs and cesspools of people looking out for only their own ambitions. Nothing is cohesive or organized. Bradenton is a joke. Over 80% of the kids there are 2nd or 3rd choices. Most youths stick with their clubs and high schools opting to stay in comfortable surroundings.

Their is no rhyme nor reason to ANYTHING about development. ODP is even worse.

What is needed is a clear vision and implentation of what it takes to go from being a U-5 recreation toddler all the way to the USMNT.

I dare anyone one these boards to name a system now in place that works in that manner.

AND THATS WHAT KLINSMANN WAS TALKING ABOUT WHEN HE SAID HE WANTED CONTROL OF THE PROGRAM.

  3. possession possession possesion jurgen will help us with that thas why we lost against brazil and thats why we lost against mexico recently we didnt know how to move the ball!!! that and michael bradley gave up the ball on many important parts of the game against mexico.

  4. Can we get a poll for the youth coaching positions? Also, um, just ignore Sasho Cirvoski in that poll. I hear he’s terrible and should never be considered (Go Terps!).

  5. Did him dirty by giving a “lame duck” manager a 4 year contract, that will see a paycheck for three additional years despite not being at the post?

Did him dirty but allowing Bradley to find a job after the World Cup and Bradley came up with zero offers?

No, Sunil did him a favor. He did the USNT “dirty” by rehiring a manager for a second cycle and giving him a four year contract, knowing it wasn’t best for the program and ultimately hiring his replacement one year later than he should have, basically forfeiting a year of preparation going towards 2014.

Bob’s winning, no matter how you look at it.

  6. Let me premise any negative feeling towards Klinsmann by saying I am happy he is the coach. The US Men were playing kick and run, balls over the top, and relying on a ‘never give up’ attitude. I still think that the best we have ever played was under Arena because we put a lot of pressure on the ball all over the field, we forced turnovers, were disruptive and Arena really understood that a shut down defense is the first stop to a good offense. That is the only system that is going to work if Americans want mediocre players to play like a top 10 country. We just do not have the talent to play teams straight up and win. We have to beat more talented teams tactically, which is why Bradley cannot beat Mexico. I think the USMNT will play better immediately because they were tired of BB’s message, or stopped believing it. They will all step up because there is now a competition for the new coaches approval. Unfortunately, a hire like Klinsmann demands immediate changes. Klinsmann does not have a very strong player pool, he has no miracle players in the wings, and he can only do so much with so little. The expectations are higher than he can possible hope to meet. I was not a Bradley fan but can we really argue that any coach can take this team into the Final 8 of the World Cup, or breeze through CONCACAF easily?

  7. please explain your comment, as im sure you were hoping BB could keep his position after the Gold Cup debacle? or were you championing his cause in 2006 as well when we were going after Jurgen. please, further explanation is necessary as i dont understand your reasoning.

  8. It is a good move. Clearly a shake up was needed. I like BB but there is no way he was going to help the NT move forward into the next WC cycle.

Is Klinsmann perfect? Of course not. I remember being in Munich after he first started the job at Bayern an and the headlines read “No system, no deas.”

That said, he does have a solid resume and is the one international coach who has clearly wanted the US job. I can’t see a better choice given the place we’re in now with player development, where the current top XI-18 are in their ages and careers, etc.

  9. except without the huge gaps in midfield made by mismanagement. the terrible high lines when leading by multiple goals. and good players to fill those positions…but yeah basically the same formation.

  10. Now you get to hear it in press conferences and post game interviews.

I’m glad we don’t have to hear that banter anymore either. I hope Klinsmann does something special with the USMNT but I’m not expecting it. Loew was Germany’s architect under Klinsmann and Klinsmann failed at Bayern. His track record is not great by any means and those who say it is are missing something.

Here’s to hoping he turns out to be the best thing that ever happened to the USSF and USMNT.

  11. I agree. Any MLS team should be chomping at the bit to take Bob Bradley on as head coach. DC United would be a great place for him to land. Ben Olsen has done ok there but I just don’t think he should be leading a team yet. A few years of learning under BB though would do a world of good for any young hopeful MLS coach.

  12. Yes, because after his many Finals appearances, and a respectable finish (winning group, too) in the World Cup and when his contract was up…..he received: zero offers.

Not the USSF’s fault on the timing.

  13. Let’s hold off on proclaiming Bradley into some Saint-hood, here.

    A) He signed a four year contract, of which he’ll likely be paid for 3 more years.
    B) He signed said four year contract after receiving little to no interest, rendering the “toughing it out” viewpoint ridiculous.
    C)Read A & B

  14. I love it. Klinsmann has a ton of experience at the highest level and appears genuinely committed to bringing U.S. soccer to the next level.

    Today is a good day.

thank you for all your accomplishments!

You will always have a place in the hearts of US fans.

You can leave with your head held high.

    Good Luck Coach Klinsmann!

Take us to the next level.

  16. you really think MB deserves to be captain?

He’s talented and should always be in every meaningful game when he’s in form, but his attitude is awful. If Holden stays on the path he’s been on for the last few years, he’ll be captain before MB easily.

It’s not about talent, it’s about attitude and leadership. Donavon,Tim howard or Dempsey for captain. They put the team on their backs the most

  17. I am more excited for the fact that Klinsmann will overhaul player development. I am not expecting Klinsmann to get us to the semifinals in 2014, but who ever follows Jurgen will hopefully benefit from the player development

  18. who is saying that? Klinsmann brought in Loew. if not for Jurgen the Germans would not be where they r right now. why give a guy with no coaching on his CV at ALL a managers position.

  19. When are we going to get a poll on whether Gulati should stay or go.

This hire proves that he has lost the plot. He should go back to teaching econ 101.

  21. why? No doubt Bob gets a fat contract termination buy out. He takes a nice long vacation and then he is leading the pack when MLS teams start firing coaches in November.

  22. So what changed?
Why could they hire Klinsmann now, and not before?
Did Gulati end up giving him the control he wanted?
    Does anyone know?

  23. Or we can give citizenship to all the 35 year old foreign players in the MLS who still outperform their younger american counterparts. Either situation will do.

  24. Klinsmann’s first move needs to be putting Caleb Porter in charge of the U-20’s, due to his success with bringing in one hit wonders in a college system that needs to voided. Putting Porter in charge of the U-20 slams the statement that college soccer is for kids that are good players but not the future of this country or league and the best coaches need to be with the US program not universities.

  25. hiddink is a hired gun. wouldn’t get US soccer anyway… and its many, ummm, issues. that would’ve just failed.

klinsmann, at least, gets it — enough to have avoided the job in the past.

i look forward to him shakin up the pool. cuz there’s complacency at the top of it and a whole lotta inexperience down below.

tall order… i’m hopeful. something i have not been with the USMNT in years.

US soccer now has two quality coaches. LA is a little colder than normal… but it didn’t freeze… …

  26. The team has been looking stale and stuck in one gear.

Coach Bradley should be thanked for his accomplishments with the team and respected as he departs.

He showed a lot of character through the years, and I for one, am very grateful for that.

Good Luck Coach Klinsman and know that you have the full support of USMNT fans behind you.

  27. We need to start these kids competing at the top level before the age of 13. They need to get a big contract before they grow hair you know where so we can compete with the rest of the world. It worked for Freddy Adu.

  28. yeah, he is getting killed in this poll. Prior “Fire bob” polls were around 85%, where this one is basically at 97%. Now that he is gone that additional 12% has accepted it. The other 3% is votes from Bornstien and mikey.
