They do show a lot of Bundesliga in the USA about as much as La Liga games. You can also see the games online along with league games from across the globe. Access isn’t an issue anymore I watch bundesliga games regularly as I am sure a lot of American football fans did when Bradley played there.
it’s because the game is a lot slower when barca plays. they slow everything down and pass you to death. they love keeping the ball in their half too. the man utd and arsenal game was fast paced the entire game. and most of the possession wasn’t in their own half.
Ok, obviously things are different between EPL and La Liga but I enjoy both. All of Euro football is a mess financially tho, so don’t try to rip Spain b/c of current events. How’s Portsmouth doing right now?
EPL is more likely to have fast exciting players playing “high stakes” games each week -ie, games that IF the underdog (Arsenal, Lpool, etc) beats the fav (ManU, Chels), THEN they would be contenders, but that really doesn’t happen much (less and less it seems). Who reallly thought Arsenal could win last year? Not me.
La Liga is more likely to have skillful but smaller/weaker players playing games that you know are battles for the UCL and Europa spots. But you will see more goals, prettier goals, more than 3 passes strung together, etc. I’m not knocking the EPL, just suggesting you don’t knock LaLiga.
Basically I’d say, for neutrals, Spain has the derby that no other league can compare to. EPL has more fixtures that are top class, but never reach the Classico level. If you like the game, why wouldn’t you like both?
Last point, it’s not like Villareal are a bad team. If you think they are, then there’s no point having this convo w/ you. Is Arsenal a bad team? B/c Man U made it look pretty easy too…
The reason those goals looked so easy at times is because the other team worked so hard (and got exhausted) destroying the plays that did not make the highlight reel…
Man, I Just watched the highlights for the first time. Barca obviously makes great runs and can make it look easy, but good lord, not that easy. It looked like Villareal wasn’t even trying. How can they be so oblivious to the runs that many times? Did they give up? It’s really quite sad…
It’s quite lame to make fun of United for losing to Barca, especially considering so did every other team in the world, United still made it to the finals, and United and SAF gave Barca all the credit they deserved. They didn’t make any excuses. You might as well make fun of every other team more, as they are behind United in that regard. And you can say Real are better, but they lost almost every game to Barca last season as well…
I believe the overall point is that with La Liga, Barca and Real run over just about every team, and it’s very unlikely they will drop many points at all. It literally comes down to El Clasico every time. In the EPL, there are still at least 3 to 4 teams that can win the title, and it’s usually that way for most of the season. It is not uncommon in the least for the top teams to lose points to even the worst teams in the EPL. Look at the EPL now, there are four teams in the Champions League, and four teams in the Europa League, and that includes Stoke, Birmingham and Fulham. Sevilla is one of the best teams in La Liga typically, and they aren’t in even in it. Can anyone really say La Liga is more balanced? Every year that United has won it recently, there was a different challenger for them. In La Liga, the third place team will be behind by about 15 points in the next three months or so. It’s a joke, be reasonable…
We’re definitely watching history unfold everything time Barca steps on the pitch. It doesn’t matter that there’s hardly any competition in La Liga. It’s like watching Tiger Woods, the Chicago Bulls or Kelley Slater in their respective heydays. We’ll tell our kids about it.
Save this footage and play it to your kids, for them to learn how to play the beautiful game. This Barcelona side is the best football team in the history of the game.
Incredible, spectacular, stunning, etc.
With Sanchez and Fabregas in the mix, the legend continues!
I think Barcelona is absolutely amazing but I really don’t have that much fun watching them. It seems like the excitement and entertainment from the United-arsenal game was just much more fun. Barcelona gets really boring at times because it’s very repetitive. It works insanely well but somewhat boring at times
i’m not sure why that second goal wasn’t offside. the one guy ran through on the left to an offside position when the shot was made. this affected the play in that it kept the ‘keeper of two his right and close to him, not allowing him to square up on the guy w/ the ball.
i know that’s the whole point of his run, but he was offside when the shot was made.
The SPL-like concentration of power within La Liga into the big two of Barca and Real Madrid is old old news.
What is even more troubling is the concentration of power within all of UEFA. Does anyone really think there is a team out there other than Barca or Man U that has a reasonable chance of winning the Champions League (don’t even limit it to those who are still alive, look at ALL European teams and their hypothetical chance of winning based on talent)? MAYBE Real Madrid and Man City? Those might be the next two in terms of talent. So that’s still Premier League and La Liga. Not only do teams from Portugal, Netherlands, and France have no real shot, but even teams from Italy and Germany seem to have fallen back just in the last year or so, from when the final was between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. Which teams would currently be 5-6, maybe Bayern and Chelsea?
Hopefully this changes because it’s not good for soccer…
no, anyone worth their salt has known how boring La Liga has been in recent history.
To some extent, the EPL is the same way. Always the same old hegemony fighting it out. Though the relegation battle is always more excited than the title chase.
MLS, Bundesliga, & English Championship are the most wide open leagues that I follow. I suppose you could add the Eredivisie in there, but I don’t get a chance to watch that.
English football has had differente teams dominating different decades. Liverpool has had their past glories, Arsenal had the unbeatables, Manchester United we all know what they have done, Chelsea started winning titles after RA bought them, Manchester City has a stacked team that can give any European Powerhouse a run for its money, yes even the Real Madrid and Barcelona.
You can write a book if you want. La Liga is a 2 team league. The EPL has had only 2 teams winning it but at least 3 or 4 teams are in the title race unlike La Liga that only has 2 teams.
You may feel like you want to defend it but Football experts have said it before.
La Liga has 2 super teams and a lot of teams that are almost bankrupt, a lot of teams cant even pay their players.
Are you guys just now realizing that it’s a two horse race or is it topical to say now because that guy recently spoke out about it. It’s been this way for so long now that it’s old hat to point it out. That’s why MLS is the best!! Salary cap what!
Right….. just like so many teams compete in the EPL right?
Yeah there’s a bit of a fight for 3rd and 2nd place, but lets face it that is becoming exactly the case, other than Man City, who is going to challenge United? City yes, Chelsea? Ehhh maybe if Torres gets out of his funk?
Lets face it, if it wasn’t for Abramovich buying Chelsea and spending hundreds of millions on players, it would be Arsenal and Man U, maybe just maybe Liverpool, but I think we all know how Rafa handled winning the EPL.
Since the EPL was renamed into the Premiership, there’s been what 4 Champions?
3 in the last 10 years?
Pretty sure La Liga has 3 champions in the last 10 years as well, and going back to when the EPL last had a different team win other than Man U, Chelsea & Arsenal La Liga had 5 to EPL’s 4. In the 80’s over 21 years ago it gets more interesting with Liverpool and some other clubs but Real Madrid had a nice little 5 title run there?
EPL is deeper now as the 5-10 spots are more contested but how can you watch some of the games in EPL? Did you see Wolves vs Fulham? God that was hard to watch. Fulham vs Newcasttle wasn’t all that better, direct fast football with strong laser long distance shots can only get you so far. Ask Ray Hudson, he’s said it himself, the EPL is about the crowd and environment, lost of over hyped players, as well as overhyped teams. When was the last time en English team won a UCL final vs a team outside of England? 05 in a miracle comeback from Liverpool and choke job by AC Milan, think Man was 99.
Even if you measure it by only Real & Barca how many Cups do all the EPL teams have vs what Barca & Madrid have?
I’m with Beta, Barca is fun to watch but how can the LEAGUE be fun when it’s always just Real or Barca? And no one try and give me any hooey about Valencia or Atletico being in the race.
Everyone gets so excited over Spanish football, it’s really only two teams year in and year out crushing everyone else. Seems kind of awful if you ask me.
Actually yes, the team that Arsenal put out there, combined with their tactics, was a terrible team…
They do show a lot of Bundesliga in the USA about as much as La Liga games. You can also see the games online along with league games from across the globe. Access isn’t an issue anymore I watch bundesliga games regularly as I am sure a lot of American football fans did when Bradley played there.

the bundesliga is so much fun to watch. every game has a big, sold out stadium and the league has a lot of parity.
You can’t judge a match by watching highlights.

[ellipsis]… Period.
hahahahahahahahahaha. wow.
ok …so a 2 team league(la liga) is bad, but….a 3 team league(epl) is more balanced?!…lol.

Valdes…the world’s highest paid spectator.

Because they show so many Bundesliga games in the States.
Valencia actually held their own against Barca twice last year but still ended up with two losses. Now, they’re down one Juan Mata to boot.
Sadly, RM trashed Valencia both meetings.

The bundesliga has a lot of parity as well as talent and healthy profits you MLS snobs are missing out
That was unreal. They are the greatest football team in the history of the world. Period.
Amen, thank God for MLS. Getting better every year and you never know who could come out on top.
All you Europosers are missing out.
Are you guys just now realizing that it’s a two horse race or is it topical to say now because that guy recently spoke out about it. It’s been this way for so long now that it’s old hat to point it out. That’s why MLS is the best!! Salary cap what!
I know…. you should ask Ferguson lol
Right….. just like so many teams compete in the EPL right?

it’s just painful to watch Barcelona cause no other team can compare. what’s the sense of even trying?
The league itself is not that exciting, but anytime Messi is playing its worth watching…
One team race already? – Yes
I’m with Beta, Barca is fun to watch but how can the LEAGUE be fun when it’s always just Real or Barca? And no one try and give me any hooey about Valencia or Atletico being in the race.
