A 2010 postseason rematch is set to take place in the Mile High City, as the defending MLS Cup champion Colorado Rapids host the surging Columbus Crew (9:30 p.m., Fox Soccer Channel).
The Rapids have found new life after the Achilles' tear that ruled star striker Conor Casey out for the rest of the season. Sanna Nyassi has shifted up top and been a revelation for coach Gary Smith's side, which is unbeaten in the three games since Casey went down.
Columbus, meanwhile, has surprisingly taken over the top spot in the Eastern Conference behind a stout defense and solid overall team play, getting contributions from its slew of rookies and also established players like Robbie Rogers, Eddie Gaven and Chad Marshall. The Crew will undoubtedly want to exact even more revenge for last season's loss in the conference semifinals after taking the first meeting between the two teams this season by a 4-1 scoreline in June.
If you will be watching tonight's match, please feel free to share any thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below. Enjoy the action.
Yeah, a day late, but I agree about the two up top.
But the rest of the team plays like they warm up by kicking a cripple to death.
Are you saying that Thompson and Mullan are defensive mids? Thompson(im not sure about) but i always thought Mullan was a winger
Mullan turned in quite a performance tonight, even apart from that goal.
*still
It’s amazing how the Rapids continue winning with 4 D-Mids…Mastroeni is sell class though
their midfield blows without GBS
some wise man you are
Can’t believe this hack scored…he shouldn’t be allowed back until Steve Z returns
Nice goal Mullan!!!!
A blind man will not thank you for a looking-glass.
Whatever happened to Dilly Duka?
Crew maybe but no way is Colorado boring to watch. Cummings and Nyassi has to be one of the most exciting striking MLS duo i have seen in a while
Omar Cummings. 🙂
Nyassi can go from 0-60 in about, oh, 1.5 seconds.
Guess you didn’t catch the Rapids win over the Union last week.
Or their dismantling of NYRB before that.
Or maybe that long-range shot from Mullan just now.
Finally Rusmir is booked.
Neither of these teams ever rate highly on the “fun to watch” scale, do they?
Has there ever been a less exciting offensive team in first place than these Columbus Crew?
GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! Just kidding. I think this game will end scoreless.
doesn’t look like anyone is watching, but colorado really need someone who can distribute the ball through the middle
