Robbie Keane appears ready to go for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Los Angeles received the Ireland international's P-1 visa on Wednesday, which will make him eligible to play in the club's match against the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday.

The Ireland international was officially acquired on Aug. 15, arrived in Los Angeles on Thursday and will be officially presented to the media on Friday at an afternoon press conference at the Home Depot Center. It seems like that the Irishman will be used as a substitute against the Earthquakes, but he's already earned some praise from his new teammates.

"He's an honest player. Every Irish player that I've ever known has the same mentality," said Galaxy captain Landon Donovan. "They work hard, they try hard and they want to win. They're all winners."

CHIVAS USA

Chivas USA have been seeking a forward to not only score goals, but also add to the professional mindset of the team. The Rojiblancos are hoping that Juan Pablo Angel is that man.

Acquired from the LA Galaxy for a third-round supplemental draft pick, Chivas USA is hoping that Angel can immediately add to the attack and improve on his poor numbers with the Galaxy.

"As impressed as I was watching him play for many years, I'm even more impressed with the person he is–he epitomizes what we want to do here," said Fraser. "He's about hard work, the team and like all of us wants to enjoy the process and he's going to offer us so much, not just in terms of his ability and his experience of being in high pressure situations."

COLORADO RAPIDS

It only took nine months, but Rapids striker Mac Kandji once again showed his ability to turn a game on it's head. Kandji, who helped set up the game winning own goal in MLS Cup 2010 was the catalyst to the Rapids 3-2 victory over Metapan in their CONCACAF Champions League opener. For Rapids head coach Gary Smith, it was refreshing to once again have his striker back to his best.

"We are going to need him over the next few weeks," Smith told MLSsoccer.com. "It's very nice to see him back and he is welcome with open arms."

FC DALLAS

History-makers, conqusitadores, hex-breakers.

All terms used to describe FC Dallas' amazing accomplishment on Wednesday night after becoming the first MLS team to win an official match in Mexico with a 1-0 victory over Pumas UNAM in the CONCACAF Champions League.

"We are the first [MLS side] to beat a good Mexican team in Mexico," stated head coach Schellas Hyndman in his postgame press conference. "I hope that more MLS teams will have the same courage to play good soccer and I hope that we can continue to find success here."

PORTLAND TIMBERS

Portland's "Captain Jack" made his return to his old stomping grounds, but it didn't go exactly the way that he would have liked. Portland fell 3-1 to Sporting Kansas City in a match that lifted Sporting into a automatic spot in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. For Jack Jewsbury, the loss was a hard one to deal with.

"It wasn't good enough for us today from minute one," Jewsbury said. "We came out flat and weathered the storm there for a little bit, but just made too many mistakes."

REAL SALT LAKE

Real Salt Lake has had its share of injury woes this season, and that continued with the word that defender Chris Wingert is out for up to six weeks with a broken wrist.

While Wingert will be out of action, centerback Jamison Olave is nearing his return from a knee injury he suffered during the MLS All-Star Game. He returned to training and could figure in RSL's match with the Houston Dynamo this weekend.

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES

The Earthquakes would admit that they haven't had the best season, but they still believe that the playoffs are well within the team's reach. For that reason, the Earthquakes acquired Eduardo Zura, an Ecuadorian forward from Quito-based El Nacional.

San Jose believes that it will have its new striker available on Saturday when they face their arch-rivals, the Los Angeles Galaxy. General Manager John Doyle admits that his new signing has the traits similar to one of the greatest forwards in MLS history.

SEATTLE SOUNDERS

The new Desginated Player rules will make the selection of younger DP's a greater potential asset for MLS teams. The Seattle Sounders are looking to be one of those teams. In a recent interview with the Seattle Times, Sounders general manager Adrian Hanuer admitted that his team may be interested in using the new rule to its advantage.

VANCOUVER WHITECAPS

The Whitecaps may not have much to celebrate this season, but are looking for a title that they can hold over their arch-rivals. Vancouver take on regional rival, the Portland Timbers on Saturday and will look to make their push in their regional championship, the Cascadia Cup. After a poor season that will likely not end with a post season appearance, the Cup provides Vancouver with something to play for.

"I think this Northwest quarter — any time you play Seattle or Portland there's a lot more at stake than just the game," head coach Tom Soehn explained. "There's a big rivalry and it's a healthy rivalry which is fantastic. There's a lot at stake this weekend for bragging rights up in this corner."

  1. I’m a little confused about the new young DP rule. Am I right in thinking that teams can still have up to 3 DPs, but depending on their ages the cap hit will vary? It’s not like there’s a seperate/additional slot only for use on a young DP. Right?

  2. Watch Quakes win 3-0 or something and Keane gets injured by pulling a hamstring. The unexpected could happen in a time like this…
