Maurice Edu will have to wait a bit longer to meet new U.S. men's national team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
Edu was replaced by Robbie Rogers on the U.S. roster for the upcoming Mexico friendly after picking up a calf strain to his left leg in Rangers' friendly with Chelsea on Saturday. Rogers will add width to a U.S. midfield comprised of mostly central players.
The Columbus Crew midfielder is the second replacement player added to the roster, as Zach Loyd was called to fill in for Timmy Chandler on Friday.
Edu's next opportunity to play under Klinsmann will come in September, when the Americans face Belgium in a friendly in Europe.
What do you think of this development? Do you see Rogers making the gameday roster?

He’s Klinsman’s “protege”.
nepotism rules the day.
@edwin in la Lmbo and the game u bought up was in 09. -___- I would rather be high then blind like you. Rogers cant cross are you serious he crossed the corner in to give us our world cup birth. His s africa performance was good and if he cant cross why do he take free kicks for the nats duh. Your clueless bro.ha
There will be no BOX-sharing here sir…you must have me confused with Wynalda.
I think he’s questioning the assessment of Edus value. I feel that Edu has proven his worth to the nats
WOW, people are ridiculous, has anyone thought maybe he was the ONLY option on such LATE notice. He knows the players, plays in the Midwest, and Klins knows him. Simple as that, there was a reason he didn’t get the first call up lol.
