SBI MLS Player of the Month: Omar Bravo

When Sporting Kansas City signed Omar Bravo to be a Designated Player last year, it was with months like this past July in mind.

Bravo was the definition of a difference maker, playing key roles in several of Sporting KC's matches as the streaking squad lengthened its unbeaten streak to 13 matches. Bravo's three goals and assist helped earn him SBI MLS Player of the Month honors.

Bravo registered an assist in KC's 2-1 win vs. Portland, delivered a 93rd-minute equalizer vs. Chivas USA, then notched two goals in Sporting's victory against Toronto FC. After an impressive showing in the MLS All-Star Game, Bravo helped set up Teal Bunbury's last-second equalizer against New England last Saturday.

Bravo beat out a strong cast of candidates for July's Player of the Month honors, including Seattle's Osvaldo Alonso, FC Dallas' Kevin Hartman, New York's Thierry Henry and D.C. United's Dwayne De Rosario to name a few. Bravo also became the second straight SKC player to take the honor (Graham Zusi was SBI's MLS Player of the Month for June).

What did you think of Bravo's month? Who would have gotten your vote for July's top MLS player?
