The second week of the English Premier League kicks off this weekend, but it is MLS with the quality match-ups that headline today's soccer on TV.
First-place Columbus takes on second-place Philadelphia in a vital Eastern Conference clash, while FC Dallas battles Seattle in a match-up of top Western Conference foes. West leader Los Angeles will unveil newly-signed striker Robbie Keane tonight against San Jose.
If European soccer is your thing, then Arsenal-Liverpool will be the match to watch. Arsenal will be seriously short-handed, but will still make things tough at the Emirates against a Liverpool side looking to improve on its opening-week draw.
On the international front, Brazil takes on Portugal tonight in the Under-20 World Cup Final. American referee Mark Geiger will officiate the match between Brazil's deadly attack and Portugal's stingy defense.
If you will be watching today's action, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

I’m sure it’s because he just traveled into town
2-1 win for the Crew and a six point lead in the East.
Not at all what I was expecting this season. I was really expecting more “Sack Warzycha” and less “conention”
ESPNU decided to use two Bristol, Connecticut-based ESPN Australia announcers for the FIFA U-20 final: Andrew Orsatti and former U.S. international Janucz Michallik.
Michallik was the one who rambled on and on and on…
I had to reach for the mute button…
Why in the hell is Arena taking Keane out?!
This second half is horrible soccer from both teams. Horrible.
Brazil wins the U-20 World Cup 3-2 in added extra time. Oscar with a hat trick.
Guns went off. Bullets were flying.
a shooting
SOUNDERS WIN IN DALLAS
I think it’s fair to assume he meant “opened fire” — which means shooting guns. So — are you being persnickety or dense?
Keane with the goal! 1-0 LA, 21st. Probably the 4th good look he’s had already
FIFA World feed. ESPN has nothing to do with it.
Keane with a storming start, Beckham played him in on goal but put it just wide under a ton of pressure
Hey ESPn, worst commetators ever! This is the finals and they act like they are on ludes.
Any guesses on the average age of LA’s starting 11? Lotta 30+ in there
Great night to have MatchDay Live. The Robbie Keane era kicked off in LA. 4th highly entertaining game.
Sweet!
Does anyone have an LA stream?
Espinoza was dangerous for RSL, goal and an assist to Gil.
Geoff Cameron and Brad Davis were awesome in the 2nd Half
What a game in Houston!!!! WOW!
Alex Dixon scores a sweet game winner on the final kick of the game, 3-2 Hou over RSL

Video of game action where telemundo or whoever removed their commentary. Can make out about two dozen gun shots, if not more. Terrifying.
Columbus tightening their grip on the East!
Yes, it’s a rebuilding-in-progress, and yes, it’s going to need work. And yes, some of us Columbus fans are still more upset with the way the offseason went down than with the decisions that were made.
But look at it this way: if Columbus is going to take over their conference in a *rebuilding* year, what happens when everything’s in place!?
Yes he was part of that team. He started at RM

Hhahahahhahahhahahahahhahaa (sarcasm)…..Ur a turd!!!
Luis Gil got a goal, 2-1 RSL over Hou 67th
This is Santos Laguna Facebook page, there are some videos off what happened

U gotta be kidding me
They said that Bornstein took bullet to the gut. Not going to make it.
Philly putting good pressure on Col, but still down 1 in 90th. Adu came on 60th, playing well.
They are really lucky the attendance was very sparse tonight, probably a big reason why it didn’t get deadly. Whew.
people were treated for panic attacks and sprained ankles nothing life threatening…thank God
What does “opened up fire” mean?
Sure. Not saying that, just that it doesn’t seem that anybody said, “Let’s wreak some havoc at a soccer match in a stadium full of people.”
Dax should have drawn two penalties in the box. Shep Messing, the MSG announcer, was saying that maybe Dax needs to work on how he falls to the ground bc the ref wasn’t buying it. He got straight body-checked on the second non-call. I’m not sure what he could have done except fall as he did.
I want to give that ref a red card.
it was extremely close, but thank got it was not connected…either way no one knew what was happening, either way it is traumatizing
Thanks. It’s terrifying to watch
Yep shooting occurred just right outside the stadium; a few people transported in an ambulance however could have been a result of spectators trying to escape and unfortunately getting hurt
conurred
Yep. Seems to be no connection to the match or the team, just something that took place at the same time in the same area.
The Santos president says there was no shooting…
At least it seems to have calmed down, this video was posted and it didn’t look like there was any immediate danger or a large number of people hurt. I don’t speak Spanish so I don’t know what they’re saying, but the tone makes me think it wasn’t so bad (hope so).

there was a shoot out outside of the stadium, the players ran off the field and the fans all dropped to the ground. After the shoot out, the fans started running to the field, the police locked the stadium down. Santos Laguna players came out and went to the stands to pick up their loved one and left to the locker rooms…thank god there were no casualties because the crowd and policemen acted very professional and kept their composure…the game is still postponed until further notice
I *think* ESPN Deportes is starting to pick up the story, so that should help get details out. Can’t find a twitter hashtag yet, although Demarcus Beasley was watching live and tweeting about it.
Anyone speak Spanish? can they say what’s happening?
