  1. Agreed. Xabi, Iniesta, Villa as support cast are essential for Messi’s success.

He’s been poor for Argentina…even in the Copa this summer, they only managed to beat Costa Rica’s U-21 side…a top heavy team (Tevez, Gonzalo, Aguero, Pastore, Messi), all incredible players, can’t play together as a team. Hope this changes and the little magician gets to lift the World Cup trophey. He deserves it!

  2. Ya, I don’t know if I like the move. It sounds like they’re just desperate for defenisve cover, I would prefer him to stay at a team where he is starting and is a leader.

  3. Agreed, with an asterisk* when he plays for Barcelona and their amazing supporting cast. Not to take anything away from his brilliance, but you gotta recognize that messi isn’t the same away from barcelona.

  4. Messi just scored another ridiculous goal…Ronaldo crawling on all 4s behind Leo trying to stop him…haha.

Messi is the best player to ever play the beautiful game. Simply stunning!

  5. Well, he’s got a lot of work to do to get there. He’s got 66 goals. The record is 252. Messi is younger and has twice as many as CRon. David Villa is about 100 away from the record, but he’s already 29.

  6. I wonder how Pique would fare as a forward. He definitely has some great moves and touch for a central defender.

Remember the goal he scored at home against Inter, or the last goal against Real Madrid in the 6-2 game, and now that back heel pass to Messi.

    Cheers

  7. Well that’s exactly Madrid did NOT want. Right before the half. Great goal by Barcelona AGAIN. This game is certainly fun.

  8. Pardon my ignorance, but how long has Barca had “Qatar Foundation” as a sponsor pasted on their jerseys? Have I just been blind to this for years?

  9. Yeah, even that blows my mind. I mean we’re not talking about the Turkish second division here, it’s La effing Liga. I wonder how long til he’s the alltime scorer ever in la liga

  10. First it was FulhAmerica. Now we’ve got The United Rangers of America, or URA FC? or Rangers USA? Whatever our clever nickname will be i wish it was a better team, or more accurately a better league!

  11. so close there by Messi to unlock the entire Real backline with a burst, and then a flick

they are different in how they express their dominance, which they both express so well. agree with you.

  12. Ronaldo can sure hit a ball. The ferocity on most of his shots is so impressive, plus his general accuracy. Contrast that with Messi’s more finesse style and ability to place the ball wherever he wants with such apparent ease. Amazing the two differing styles and the success they both have.

  13. Commentator on GolTV just said that Ronaldo has scored 87 goals in 91 appearances for Real Madrid. I mean, really? I don’t know what most of you think, but that sounds like WOW to me. That’s like rec-league numbers.

  14. But lord these last two Madridalona games have been super entertaining. So at least there’s that. Oh and the equalizer. Yay

  15. I was born in Madrid thanks to my airforce parents, and I desperately want to like Real Madrid and support them. But every time I try, I find something so frustrating about their style of play and their team’s makeup. Imagine how lifelong, true Madristas must feel.

  16. I suppose there’s no more Dempsey – Salcido cross-border truce. Salcido’s been loaned out to U.A.N.L. I was wondering why he didn’t appear for my premier league fantasy team.

In other news, there’s singing at Camp Nou!!!

  17. Dads american, moms german like jones and chandler. Incredible talent. Hes on the German u-21 team right now I believe and will more than likely get a cap for germany sometime unless we nab him first. It all depends on him though, he can get a passport whenever he wants. Pretty sure Matchfitusa just did an article about him too.
