Sporting Kansas City continued a steady climb up the Eastern Conference standings on Sunday with a vital 1-0 victory over D.C. United at Livestrong Sporting Park.

Kei Kamara delivered the winning goal as Sporting KC's defense pitched a shutout against a D.C. United attack that found itself struggling without Dwayne DeRosario and Charlie Davies in the starting lineup (with Davies not even dressing for the match after a frustrating performance at mid-week against Chicago).

KC manager Peter Vermes trotted out a four-forward attack, with Omar Bravo playing the playmaker role behind the strike trio of Kei Kamara, C.J. Sapong and Teal Bunbury. The result was Sporting KC holding an edge in every statistical category in the match, from shots to shots on goal to possession.

Jimmy Nielsen made two saves for KC's fourth shutout of the season.

Here are the match highlights.
