Teal Bunbury didn't celebrate his second goal in as many games by doing a human bobblehead routine. He didn't let the moment pass without a little gesture, though.
Bunbury made binoculars with his hands as the crowd roared after his 34th minute goal, the one that ensured that Sporting Kansas City would run its unbeaten streak to 14 matches as SKC topped Real Salt Lake 2-0 at Livestrong Sporting Park on Wednesday night.
Bunbury's goal was nice; midfielder Roger Espinoza's was even better. The Honduran international opened the scoring with a rocket into the near post top corner of the goal in the 29th minute.
That was enough for Jimmy Nielsen, who made a couple of key saves, to post the shutout.
Sporting KC went on the attack early, Omar Bravo passing to Espinoza for a flick that RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando had to tip over the goal. Espinoza seemed determined, however, and it paid off with his first goal of the season and first in three years.
Espinoza cut through a pair of RSL defenders with a sharp move and when in space, took his shot off the dribble and beat Rimando.
Sporting Kansas City wasn't done. They earned a throw-in for Matt Besler near one corner, and the ball came to Kei Kamara for a header that Rimando somehow stopped. The rebound came out to Bunbury who put it away despite another valiant try by Rimando.
SKC outshot RSL 11-3 and had five shots on goal to Real Salt Lake's zero in the first half. But Espinoza was sent off with a straight red in the 57th minute for a hard tackle on RSL's Kyle Beckerman.
Given the man advantage, RSL never mounted much of an offensive attack. One shot by Alvaro Saborio was saved off the line in the 71st minute, Seth Sinovic the defender in the right place at the right time for SKC.
Five minutes later, Nielsen stopped a low liner from Beckerman off a free kick, and SKC kept its margin of victory.

that’s because they are the best team in the league, and because i work in the new stadium, that’s why they haven’t lost there yet
+1
That picture doesn’t bode well for either of them.
in the first half KC looked like the best team in the league.
RSL looked completely stunned by SKC’s pressing game. Rimando and Borchers were constantly having to make passes with SKC strikers barring down on them. It helped create a lot of chances for SKC.
Penis Bump!
Hah talk about bumpin’ uglies
RSL’s offensive options have become stagnant…Hopeful crosses into crowded boxes or low percentage blasts from way out…No cohesive movement among the players…Credit to KC. They pressured the ball everywhere and were very fast on the counter…
exactly what i was going to say lol
this picture is wrong in so many ways…
agreed…they seem to be to scares to pull the trigger. They have the money to make a nice move. Trialist Carlos Hernandez would be a tremendous asset in the middle.
What is happening to RSL??
When is Paulo Jr coming back from his injury?
What about Morales, is there any hope of him coming back this year (like Ferreira)?
They need to make a move or two…
I haven’t seen RSL so frustrated in awhile. Horrible to watch at work.
This team can be dangerous in the playoffs.
Great game for the guys in blue. RSL was frustrated as hell.
