The Seattle Sounders can cement a place in the CONCACAF Champions League knockout stage with a win or a draw when they take on Comunicaciones in Guatemala. The game is a rematch of a 4-1 Sounders victory in the opening game of group play, when Michael Fucito scored twice while Seattle was down a man.
Toronto FC, meanwhile, is fighting for its life, needing to take at least a point off Pumas UNAM, a team that pummelled the Reds by a 4-0 scoreline in Mexico not even two weeks ago. A loss would all but eliminate TFC from knockout-stage contention, and they'll have to come up with a result without the suspended Torsten Frings, Terry Dunfield and Mikael Yourassowsky.
Here is the TV schedule for the night's games:
8 p.m. – Fox Soccer Channel/Galavision/CONCACAF.com stream – Toronto FC vs. Pumas UNAM
10 p.m. – Fox Soccer Channel/CONCACAF.com stream – Comunicaciones vs. Seattle Sounders
10 p.m. – Galavision – Monterrey vs. Herediano

Not true, there are plenty of non-spanish places in the Caribbean.
Galaxy better put Ricketts in goal. No more blunders by Saunders. Despite what the dorky US announcers say, Saunders couldn’t shine Ricketts’ boots.
And it looks like they picked up Ty Harden off the streets…Oh wait, they did.
brain fart…
I don’t know about that. If he were Caribbean he might have been able to distinguish between different players with brown skin, or respectably pronounce a hispanic name.
Tonight’s result guarantees Sounders advancement.
Boy that was a fun game. The Sounders really play composed soccer no matter where they play. What a difference between this season and several years ago where MLS teams couldn’t muster confidence, much less a difficult result away from home in the CCL.
I think a lot of MLS teams can play as well as the Sounders when they want. The Sounders have just really gelled and found their chemistry this season. HUGE credit to Sigi and his staff for what they have set out to accomplish and are on their way to accomplishing.
Don’t think British, think Caribbean. Like any of the former British islands. I’m sure the announcer is from there.
Nice draw, Seattle.
Bonus Question: Who is the terrible British announcer on the Concacaf stream? Good grief, what a tool! He sounds like Gareth on the original BBC “Office.” Just a stream of dimwitted cliches. And that weird British ability to mispronounce EVERY name. Jaqua = Jacka? How?
you beat me to the post. see below 🙂
cheers man!
I agree. First time I’ve ever seen a well-refereed CONCACAF away game for any MLS team.
It was Communicaciones, but I agree. This was well officiated for once. Also, props to Communicaciones for not rolling all over the pitch for most of the game like a lot of Central American teams do.
Roberto Garcia and his officiating crew get a thumbs up, even before the late equalizer. hope this is what we can see from the officials going forward in our region.
As one who disdains the BS the region is known for, it’s nice to feel an even hand from the zebras, on the road, in CONCACAF
Scott and Keller were letting balls drop into the six, should never happen coach.
Sounders/Herediano was the best ref’d CONCACAF game I’ve ever seen…
Great result for Sounders, as they are likely through.
Well played match by both teams.
aaaand ssfc is through.
way to rep MLS, guys.
suck it colorado.
Alonso’s a beast! 2-2!
Alonsoooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOAL!!!!!!!
Alonso again
Why cant they stop the clock after every stoppage? it would be so much easier there would be no need to fake injuries or waste time. It is a simple change that would greatly improve the game
sweet tweener chip from Fernandez to free him
you called it earlier…cheers. let’s ee if they can recover
Great buildup and Montero badly misses the header.
announcer just said 10 min left.
anybody know what minute we’re in?
Keller needs to retire. This CCL is turning into a disaster for MLS
United, TImbers and NSC MN fan here, so generally I root against the Sounders. But for my money, they are playing the best soccer in the league right now. They are very fun to watch. ANd kudos to them for showing up to play attacking soccer tonight. (Hey, gary smith, are you paying attention to how the pro’s do it?)
Rooting for that tying goal. Go Sounders!
Keller and Scott again, neither gets to the ball.
Goal Comunicaciones. not Keller’s best effort there, missed the punch
Surprised Fucito misses that. He’s scored several from there on his favored left foot this season.
and again!
oooooh, fucito! so close, yet…
Alonso unlocking the d again there. he’s fun to watch
hmmmmmmm on Montero’s yellow
Sounders have dominated this game so far. Hope they can keep it up in second half. Pouring rain now. Sounders still attacking.
Alonso the man, agree. very composed play, he believes he’s the best player on the field and it shows in his play, somehting like that, yes?
ALONSO best player on the side for me. Where’s Riley? Scott scares me to no end.
GOAL Sounders…Alonso off deflection in 44th
lined up for a roaring second half
Zach Scott has been rubbish and Keller not much better. Cobi Jones and his Fox play by play man both say Parke is filling in for regular CB Ianni. Both misidentify Scott as he allows ball to bounce at 4 yard box. While Sounders make two attempts in front of goal, play by play guy couldn’t stop reading his announcement of future game. Amateur Hour on and off field.
great chances for Seattle denied, then Comunicaciones beats the offsides trap at midfield and creates a breakaway opportunity converted with side-footed looping volley over Keller, who was by then well off his line of course
Seattle has looked bright though and hoping we see a high scoring game
bicycle kick from the spot by Ordonez I think hits the bar! rebound ripped just wide
edit:
Looks like it’s down to TFC vs Dallas for the last spot
I look away for 5 minutes and Pumas scores. Sigh.
Huge goal by Marosevic. If TFC can pull this out it will be all to play for on matchday 6
Geez, Andy Iro is atrocious. How is he playing professional soccer?
