After an impressive victory over another championship contender, it's no wonder that Louisville maintained its perch atop the Fox Soccer/SBI NCAA Top 25 rankings.

The Cardinals topped UCLA in an early-season battle of national powers to justify their preseason No. 1 spot. A number of teams traded places in the top 10 behind Louisville, but the only newcomer in the bunch is West Virginia, which split its games against ACC foes Virginia and Maryland and is emerging as a team that can compete with anyone.

William & Mary and South Florida each jumped four spots after wins over SMU and Wake Forest, respectively, and newcomers UNC Greensboro, Central Florida and Brown round out the rankings.

Here is the latest Fox Soccer/SBI NCAA Top 25:

  1. May I be the first to point out Ives that you did not put Creighton in your top 25 last year! It was an atrocious error.

    I LIKE IT !

IF college soccer was done like college football, you could determine the alledged National Champion.

  3. Not sure how number 2 UCLA losing to number one Louisville drops UCLA in the rankings. That would seem to say you got it right. Suddenly Akron who beats a mediocre team is better than UCLA? (I am definitely not a fan of UCLA btw)

  4. Akron broke the record for the longest home winning streak in NCAA history by beating Cleveland State 5-0 lat Saturday. While Cleveland State is no top 25 team, they are the only team that has beaten Akron in last two years.
