Inter Milan just cannot seem to catch a break.

Inter's early-season woes continued as Wesley Sneijder was ruled out of the club's upcoming Champions League match with CSKA Moscow as he nurses a thigh problem. Sneijder's absence in Tuesday's match is a big blow to Inter, which needs points after losing its Champions League opener against Trabzonspor last week.

New Inter manager Claudio Ranieri will also be without Maicon and Dejan Stankovic for the match in Russia. Diego Forlan will also not suit up for Inter, as he is cup-tied to Atletico Madrid after appearing in Europa League qualifiers for the Spanish club earlier this season.

ARGENTINA REVEALS ROSTER FOR BRAZIL FRIENDLY

Argentina head coach Alejandro Sabella has announced his roster for the Albiceleste's upcoming friendly against Brazil. Among those selected are Andres D'Alessandro, Emiliano Papa and Cruzeiro's Walter Montillo, who is one of four Brazil-based players on the team.

Juan Roman Riquelme was not called into the team because of a knee injury. Due to the match taking place on one of FIFA's international dates, Sabella was unable to choose players from Europe.

UAE WINGER WHO SCORED BACKHEEL GOAL KILLED IN CAR CRASH

United Arab Emirates winger Theyab Awana was killed in a car crash late on Sunday. Awana, who became a hot topic on the internet earlier this year after converting a penalty kick with a backheeled effort, was on his way back to Abu Dhabi after a national team training session before his car collided with a truck. The UAE national team cancelled its training session on Monday so that players could attend Awana's funeral. Awana was 21.

BOCA JUNIORS REMAINS IN FIRST PLACE IN ARGENTINA

Boca Juniors was held to a scoreless draw by Argentino Juniors on Sunday, but the South American heavyweight is still in first place in the Apertura standings of Argentina's top flight. Boca Juniors, which has 21 points from nine games, is four ahead of second-place Racing Club. Boca has not won a league title since 2008 but is considered the early-season favorite to do so.

  1. “Due to the match taking place on one of FIFA’s international dates, Sabella was unable to choose players from Europe.”

I think you mean due to the match NOT taking place on one of FIFA’s international dates. I’m not “that guy”, I was just confused.

  2. I wasn’t aware van Persie or Robben were thugs. I guess he totally deserves to be hurt though, being able to choose his country of birth and all.

  3. Always sad to lose a talented player prematurely. I still remember all the criticism of Awana when that backheeled PK hit Youtube. This is one of those moments when you realize that, all in all, soccer’s just a game.

    RIP Theyab Awana.

  4. well…. that’s what you get for playing on a national side with hoodlums like de Jong, van Persie, Robben and van Bommel. THUGS the lot of them. You’re alright though Wes, shame it had to be you.
