Soccer Wednesday: Your Running Commentary

MLS_Primary_COL

After a wild Tuesday night involving Los Angeles and Colorado, the other three MLS teams in the CONCACAF Champions League group stage hope for better results as they continue their push for the knockout round.

Columbus and Houston also square off in a crucial league game riddled with Eastern Conference implications. Both endured humbling losses over the weekend and need results to feel more assured of their seeding position in the MLS playoff picture.

If you're not in the mood for MLS teams, try checking out the America-San Luis game in Mexico, where recent U.S. national team call-ups Edgar Castillo and Michael Orozco Fiscal should be on display.

  1. of course every American team, when in an international competition but particularly a CONCACAF one, has to have that attitude because of the fact the bad calls will come against them…been like that for decades. no need to pretend it isn’t so, but yes, I agree the task is to overcome the BS and win anyway

  2. sore losers fox soccer. that colorado vs santos goal was not offside like most dumb people say. peralta came running in to the box when quintero passed the ball so it was not offside. who we going believe argentine commentors or clueless fox soccer commentors?

  3. As I watch the Dynamo with no road win in 2011, and think of the numerous times my Red Bulls have fallen apart, I reaalize how bad of an idea it is to have 10 teams in the MLS playoffs.

  4. I have always said it. Only thing worse than MLS officials is CONCACAF officials. In MLS they are bad. In CONCACAF they are bad and scared.

  5. definitely stone cold. but damn, up 2-0, who knows where it goes from there and maybe never a PK happens. instead new life breathed into Tauro and out of Dallas with the nullified honest goal, and here we are.

  6. Dallas get a 2nd goal disallowed. Awful call, he was NOT offside…then Tauro ties on a penalty (it was a stone cold penalty, btw)…1:1. Toronto down by 3 last I checked…

  7. so, instead of 2-0, it’s now 1-1.

CONCACAF wimpdom. No wonder this region is so impotent traditionally; do you think the refs help them out elsewhere in the world??? Ha ha ha!!!!!!!

  8. these officials know EXACTLY what they are doing, they’ve done it FOREVER in our region, and they are afraid to simply let the teams play because they don’t believe they will like the results

    very simple equation.

  9. the best strategy of the night was having the winning honest goal disallowed by the Honduran Official.

the ONLY justice last night would have been the result justly earned on the road in Mexico, a victory for LA. Instead, excellent strategy by Morelia having Juninho falsely red carded in the previous match so they didn’t have to face him yesterday, and then of course the winning goal falsely nullified.

Arena’s tactics won the game honestly, whehter you can get to that or not. only the BS from the cowards in our region denied the victory.

  10. TFC is going to get a beating. Toronto´s defense has to be one of the worst I have seen. They better sign some decent defenders for next season.

  11. No, i didn’t expect a good crowd, but the stadium looks completely empty…Toronto down by 2, 20 mins in…truly the most awful team in MLS history…even the kick and run style of Stevie Nickol at Revs, w/ about $25 to spend on players every season got them twice to the cup final…I don’t see Toronto winning anything in our lifetime…

  12. CONCACAF games are fun but never well attended. They are always midweek games against teams many have never heard of. I love interleague play, but the presentation sucks too. No home promos, fun halftime shows, limited replays, etc. CONCACAF rules.

  13. Touro missed about 3 clear cut chances to tie the game…Dallas attendance has been a problem for quite some time. The two major excuses we have heard: 1. Texas is really a football state2. the stadium is in a suburb, in the middle of nowhere and quite the drive from downtown Dallas.

So much for the appeal of a “Champions League” game.

At the Morelia/Galaxy game last night, even if the stadium wasn’t at capacity last night, the crowd created an amazing atmosphere.

And just to recap what was previously said about that game: yes, Keane’s goal should have stood, but, in all fairness, Galaxy got what they deserved; there’s so far you can get with Bruce Arena as a coach…

  14. The match announcer at the Dallas/Touro game said that the Galaxy won at Morelia 1:0, and that Santos Laguna won at Colorado 2:0.

Seriously, this is pathetic. Fox Soccer are bunch of amateurs. Sad. Don’t get me wrong, they show the games and I will watch, but they should really consider having Sky Sports instead of Fox Soccer. After all, both channels are owned by the same despicable Australian creature.

Ha, Dallas just scored a goal, 15 seconds in. There’s about 35 to 37 people in the stands…very sad!
