Stuart Holden's return to first-team action appears to be right around the corner.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle revealed that while it's unlikely Holden will make the matchday roster against Norwich City this weekend, he is aiming to bring the U.S. national team midfielder back into the fray for Tuesday's Carling Cup match against Aston Villa.

Holden has played in three reserve matches to help regain his match fitness, most recently going 90 minutes against Arsenal in a 3-3 draw on Tuesday.

"What we have to make sure of is that when we bring him back in it's the right time and it's not detrimental to all the hard work that he has done," Coyle said on Bolton's team website. "So is Saturday too soon for him to start? Probably so, but having said that if he continues the way he has done then I certainly would be hopeful of starting him on Tuesday in the Carling Cup at Aston Villa. There is no doubt he's progressing in the right manner, which is great for Stuart first and foremost, and everybody in the football club."

  1. Since Holden’s injury, Bolton has lost almost every game. It is impossible to deny his impact on the pitch.

As the only Bolton fan in America, I can’t wait!
