This Weekend’s Soccer on TV

Nobody has been able to slow down Manchester City's high-powered attack, but U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard will have a shot at doing so on Saturday, when the Toffees venture into the Eastlands to take on City, which has scored at least two goals in every league game thus far.

As for a pair of American midfielders, Stuart Holden could be in line for his first Premier League minutes of the season after his 90-minute Carling Cup stint when Bolton travels to the Emirates to face vulnerable Arsenal on Saturday, while Michael Bradley aims for his second consecutive start in Chievo Verona's home match against Genoa on Sunday.

Also in Italy, manager Claudio Ranieri will look to halt Inter Milan's awful start in his first match at the helm, a road tilt against Bologna.

The MLS playoff hunt heats up with some enticing matchups over the weekend, starting with Friday's crucial bout between Sporting Kansas City and the Philadelphia Union. Beleagured-but-still-alive New York hosts Portland in a match ripe with implications for the league's final playoff berth, while Columbus and Los Angeles meet in a battle of current conference leaders. Even though Houston and Dallas both figure to make the playoffs, their always-heated Texas derby is a must-see match as well.

  1. Yeah Moyes said they signed Marcus to be the reserve team GK. If Timmy gets injured, then he would back up Mucha. I wonder how much they are paying him for such a small role. At least he gets to stay in his awesome farm house.

  4. Baby Bradley is going to make his name known in Serie A. He’s played in 4 major Euro leagues, well if you include Holland. Shame he didn’t get a proper look in at AV, but they were in a relegation battle, but he should get a proper battle to keep Chievo up this season

  5. With the way Fulham has been playing as of late and lack of firepower, I just have a feeling Dempsey will be leaving come summer. I can just feel it. 5 years with Fulham. He’s their top-scorer, took them to the EL final and several top 10 finishes. Time for him to go. He just needs to score like 10 goals this season and get ready for a CL team in Italy or France
