UEFA Champions League: Your Running Commentary

ChampsLeagueLogo

One thrilling UEFA Champions League match is already in the books on Tuesday, but the remaining slate of games promises to entertain as well.

Inter Milan already atoned for its stunning loss to Trabzonspor in its opening group game by topping CSKA Moscow, 3-2, earlier in the day. Mauro Zarate scored the game-winner just moments after Vagner Love had sealed CSKA's comeback from a 2-0 deficit.

The star-studded Bayern Munich-Manchester City Group A tilt will draw much of the attention among the games set for 2:45 p.m., with both teams off to stellar starts in their respective leagues. Napoli-Villarreal and Real Madrid-Ajax also present intriguing matchups during the second round of group play. Manchester United is in action as well, and it will look to overcome injuries to Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez when facing FC Basel.

If you will be watching any of Tuesday's Champions League games, please feel free to share any thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below. Enjoy the action (TV schedule is after the jump):

    hernandez 8M

  2. yeah, and it’s not just all of the buying – he just seems like an average manager (an stubborn, tactically). The players have made him look better than he is but against Bayern, his weaknesses are showing.

  3. Those 3rd tier games you’re talking about are airing on FOX networks live. Real-Ajax is on Fox Desportes, and Napoli-Villereal is on Fox Sports. Doesn’t make sense for Fox to sell them to ESPN.

  4. I understand how TV rights and such work, but would it kill ESPN to buy off some of the third-tier games from Fox? I really doubt that Fox will charge THAT much for games they didn’t choose to put on FSC or FSC Plus, and a game like Real Madrid-Ajax or Napoli-Villereal would draw a ton more viewers than whatever 2:30 EDT programming ESPN2 runs.

  5. This game has really heated up.

Villareal’s defense looks to be crumbling under the Napoli pressure. Lost a man on the back post for a well struck goal and then a take down in the box a minute later for a penalty.

  6. What did the Napoli fans set off? That is no normal flare, it looks like a military grade flare. I was having trouble even seeing the pitch for awhile there.

  7. It is ridiculous that Fox Soccer is playing Man U – Basel instead of perhaps the best match up of the whole group stage, Man City – Bayern. I know there are a lot of Man U fans but don’t they have any interest in showing the good games?
