The Americans Abroad have made a habit out of scoring goals this season, and this weekend was no different.
Clint Dempsey was one of the players to find the back of the net, scoring the fifth goal in Fulham's 6-0 demolition of Queens Park Rangers. Dempsey, who now has two goals in the Premiership campaign, also contributed to the scoreline by assisting on the final goal of the game.
DaMarcus Beasley also scored the second goal of his respective season this weekend. Having been just called up by U.S. men's national team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann, Beasley got Puebla off to a flying start when he scored 11 minutes into its game against San Luis. That goal would not be enough, however, as fellow U.S. international Michael Orozco and San Luis went on to win the game 2-1.
Timmy Chandler did not get on the scoresheet, but he was involved in helping set up Nurnberg's first two goals in its 3-3 draw with Mainz. Chandler first whipped in a left-footed cross that led to a goal before jump-starting a counter attack. Chandler went 90 minutes in the match.

What do you think of these performances? Did you like Dempsey's goal or assist more? Hoping to see Beasley play in the U.S. men's national team's upcoming friendlies? What do you think of Chandler's involvement in Nurnberg's opening goals?

Because this isn’t the 1960s and you’re allowed to make substitutions.
Incredible. Thanks for sharing!
fabian johnson can play left back right? I know its him or daniel williams.. so long term with dolo’s age a factor chandler on the right and johnson on the left.
Settle down there bub- TC’s not coming up with this just from the three games Klinsman’s coached for the USMNT, but from his entire past history as a futbol coach. And from what I gather, he’s hit the nail on the head…
57 meter header, longest in the history of football:

great little recap! it’s good to see Jones is back into the mix at Schalke…same with Dolo. Chandler still being a beast. Williams starting now. Gooch starting now. Bradley continuing to start. Great to see Boca, Edu and Bedoya together and starting. Beasley is still on a tear.
I’m wondering if Herc’s injury played any role into him not being called up. Buddle is seriously making a case for a depth player. I find it ridiculous that Sasha does not get called up despite playing 90 minutes for a top Belgium team every week. He should have been called in and not Larentowicz. Larentowicz is a WASTE of a call up. Mixx and Gatt need a call up too.
to be fair, someone has to start the nickname…
Fulham actually had McBride, Dempsey, Keller Bocanegra and Eddie Johnson all on the pitch at the same time towards the ends of 08…
No, that’s just a standard 2 2 1 2 2 1.
Yeah google Philip Lamm. You’ll find he is the one who said Klinsmann is a bad coach.
Fulham had 5 American players during the 07-08 season. The most they ever had in 1 match may have been 4 when McBride came back from injury but i’m unsure if all 4 started or appeared on the pitch at the same time. Remember Keller played a number of games end of the season and McBride returned from injury in Feb/March 08, Bocanegra was benched at around that time
I think someone already mentiones this, but i’m pretty sure fulham had 3 field players playing at the same time before mcbride left for MLS. So there was mcbride, dempsey and bocanegra. Eddie Johnson may have been there too, but obviously on the bench ha!
so hold on history majors…we apparenly have 3 American field players on the pitch in Scotland all at the same time. Has this ever happened before at any level in any overseas league?
Does anyone know why Jozy never goes 90?
“Obviously, knowing Klinsman(n)…”
How do you know Klinsman(n) so well already? He has been in charge for three games and his roster selections have been limited.
Chandler might indeed play on the left, but don’t pretend you know what this team is going to look like under Klinsmann after just 3 games.
Nicknames only work if others call them by it as well..
looks like Spector got injured: came off in the 12th like Ive’s said:
– Jonathan Spector has gone down after a clash with Derbyshire – this looks pretty bad.
– Spector went off for a little more treatment, but is now back on – though he’s limping a little.
– Spector has given up trying to run off that injury, and David Murphy comes on to replace him.
Yanks-abroad-video list this instead of the above reporting….I am going to verify:
Jones with Schalke
*He entered in the 55th minute in a 2-1 win over Hamburg.
Findely with Nottingham Forest and Spector with Birmingham
*Robbie was a second half sub and Specs went the distance in Birmingham’s 3-1 win.
Someone answered that he hurt his ankle, but nothing serious.
No in the last article I read he wanted to play for the USA he was called up to the Mexico U-23 team, but I guess he wants to play for USA though. Also, on wikipedia he is listed as an American player on Club America roster.
You probably mean top-flight European club, as I’m pretty sure the record for Americans starting a game for the same club is pretty darn close to 11… The PDL does it all the time 🙂 In all seriousness, though, I am wondering if any the Fulham game that you cite could be the record for Euro clubs?
Does anyone know why Spector started but only played 12 minutes? Red card, injury?
It’s nice to see Gooch getting full minutes in the undersized Portuguese league. It’s a perfect league to develop some foot skills that he has lacked, in addition to finally get back into full form.
Yeh, I’d rather have him stay at RB. He plays there week in and week out. Of course he can play LB to some extent, but I’d much rather keep him as our future RB for Dolo as opposed to LB. Bring in Loyd, Dunivant, or Spector (hurt today, though I don’t know how badly) until Lichaj fully recovers from his injury, which will be quite a while. Playing Shea at LB might also be pretty interesting, as we have Deuce to play on the left in midfield.
—-Altidore——Agudelo—-
Dempsey–Edu–Bradley–Donovan
Shea—-Boca—-Gooch—-Dolo
———–Howard————-
You can have Chandler play on the left, or keep him on the right for one game and dolo the other. Obviously, knowing Klinsman, he will play on the left.
So more likely:
———-Altidore———
———-Dempsey———-
Shea—————-Donovan
——Edu——Bradley—–
Chandler–Boca–Gooch–Dolo
———–Howard———-
Do you know who Philip Lamm is?
He plays for Bayern and Germany and played for Klinsmann. He is right footed and has played right back, left back and midfield for Germany and Bayern. All at the highest level.
Look him up on Google.
You are extremely wrong if you think having a right footed right back move over to left back and play the position well is at all unusual. It’s hardly uncommon even at the highest level as Lamm shows.
If Chandler really wants to he can be an outstanding left back and he need look no further than Philip Lamm.
Timmy crosses with his left as well as he does with his right…BALLER
didn’t acuna decide to play for mexico? i thought he was in the pool of players called for mexico for cops america?
Watched the Hoffenheim match and was Very impressed with how Williams played. He was very quick and technical on both D & O. If he can play that way week in week out he will be a very nice addition to the US player pool. With him & Johnson in the pool we may finally have the depth to move Clint to a withdrawn striker role….keeping Donovan out wide where his speed can be used best. Really looking forward to this weekend’s USMNT match.
We don’t have any round pegs at LB. Chandler may be the best fit unless Loyd gets faster and healthy or Dunivant gets younger.
That J. Jones is getting playing time again at Schalke is really good news. Seeing so many Yanks-Abroad getting playing time in so many winning efforts is also a boost.
Here’s to Coach Klinsman and our new wave. USA
His time in Frankfurt is done, the coach doesnt rate him and they actively shopped him in the last transfer window.
Hell be gone in January.
given that Edu, Bedoya and Boca started for the Rangers together, what is the record for most Americans starting a game for the same club?
didn’t Fulhamerica have McBride, Dempsey, keller and Boca start together toward the end of the season one year?
i wouldnt be surprised of J. Jones isnt starting for Schalke in a month. He has to slowly regain full match fitness
Eh. I realize with Holden and Torres hurt that we don’t have great options in the middle, but I don’t think putting two players who rarely play there in that slot will work.
It is obvious by the defenders called up that Klinsy intends to play Chandler at LB 90mins in both games. The square peg will be pounded into the round hole.
Is Isaac Acuna still suspended from the Club America first team anyone know ? Also, this weekend was good I am a little bit worried on why Clark is not dressing, but glad to see JJ get to play for Schalk 04. 😀
GATT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hmmm….I hate how this formats
just curious as to how the team would play with
Jozy
Shea————————Beasley
Lando—Clint
Bradley
Chandler———————Dolo
Gooch-Boca
I think those three central would work well together and let guys with pace stay on wings. I know donovan is still quick but I think Beas might be faster now and shea is to good to leave out.
SK90 quietly having a good year in Belgium.
Between Beasley, Shea, Williams, Loyd, and Chandler, someone has to fit in at LB and be serviceable. We have the talent to be a good team again as long as a decent CB pops up, and also as long as we stop swearing by a Latin system when we only have one or two good Latin players and none of our white guys (sans Deuce) play that way.
Worth noting: Spector hurt his ankle, which is why he was subbed so early. Manager says it was “nothing serious.”
That sweet left footed cross doesn’t make you consider the possibility that maybe, just MAYBE he might be OK on the left? I know he was actually on the right there, but clearly he’s not incapable of whipping in left footed crosses. And by the way, he plays in the back, not midfield.
Please keep Chandler on the right side of midfield
