  1. I personally think the punishment for this type of diving should be equivalent to that for match-fixing. They really weaseled one away from Fulham today.

  2. Just looked back and saw coaches comments about technical ability and “other things.” Still no clue about being in “hot water in the media” or seeing any comments jozy himself made to media

  3. Wait, what?? I must have missed something. What’s jozy been doing? (other than scoring goals, but that doesn’t make sense in the context of your sentence)

  4. Love how the guy immediately begins holding his cheek …… after he was pushed on the shoulder. Goal-line cameras? No … what’s needed is red-card cameras.

You know, I think that may be viable (the ref. already has to stop play anyway to call a yellow or red card … he could easily pause to give the 4th official a chance to view replays and confirm it wasn’t a dive). Diving would then basically stop as it’s too easy to spot on replay.

  5. No Gooch for Sporting today 🙁 When Onyewu is on, and I mean in good form and injury-free, I love watching him play defense. (and for me, I know I dont normally say that about defenders, cuz it’s not a typcally glamorous position.) I actually enjoy watching Gooch beast his way thru a game. So dominating in the air and a fearful physical presence. Too bad this game is televised and he’s not even on the bench. Injured? Being rested?

  6. After what Jozy has been doing there is no way AZs manager will catch any flack for benching Jozy. Jozy is in some hot water in the media over there as it is.

  7. That isn’t why he was benched. Coach said he was benched for several reasons…

    Lack of fitness/laziness
Showing up late to video sessions
Stupid comments made to the media

  8. Wisla was the worst team in the group, and he probably felt they could get the job done with the reserves. I wouldn’t blame him for this loss.

Was Dembele wrong? Sure. But your job is to know which players are from Italy or South America, who will faint at the slightest touch, and reserve the urge to smack them until the match is over.

Is it Jol’s fault? I don’t know, but I think we are just seeing the effect of a Fulham spread way too thin. It’s still quite early.

  9. I believe Jol at Fulham will be fired soon. Fulham were very undisciplined against Stoke. They were more interested in mixing it up than taking advantage of Stoke’s aggressive play. Jol has also left Deuce, Zamora, and Murphy at home?

  10. ah Yes Elm. The lifeblood of that team. who is scoring in the league then? All of AZ’s other strikers make Jozy look world-class

  11. first goal was a own-goal; defender had to make a play on a driven cross as altidore was ready for the tap in at far post.
2nd goal was off a corner, headed in by Elm who i think was playing CB; again altidore was free at far post and followed the ball into the net but didn’t need to make contact.

AZ definitely played more direct after jozy came on: just tried to overpower vienna in the box with height and strength. It kinda worked.

  12. It’s an own-goal tea party there. Each team has an own goal, and then smarter goals by Gorgon for Vienna and Elm for AZ

  13. It seems evident that the team was more direct with some different players in the mix.

I think the whole altidore thing is overblown. he will continue to get chances. so he had an average match against ajax…it isnt the end of the world.

  14. How are you getting the game on the beeb? I remember listening to Fulham-Shakhtar Donetsk a few years ago on BBC, but now I can never get the game to broadcast, but I only go through their website. Might have to get more creative….

  15. AZ just tied it up 2-2. No idea if it has any validity, but both goals were scored after Jozy came in the game, so maybe he has been a spark?

  16. Horrible red card call by all accounts. BBC radio said Krakow man deserved a yellow for diving and Dembele shouldn’t have even gotten a yellow.

  17. Fulham is knee-deep in it vs Wisla Krakow, Moussa Dembele with a red card in the first half. Still 0-0, Deuce Didn’t Dress
