Anyone who thinks this is much ado about nothing doesn’t understand England. The entire country is still buzzing from the thrashing Man City put on ManU.
Yeah, I don’t totally understand the uproar over this. United have been soundly beaten before, maybe not to this extent, but playing a man down for a half against an at-least-as-good team is a recipe for disaster. I wonder what the scoreline would have been if a Man City defender was sent off in the 48th…
That said, fair credit to City for creating glorious chances and excellent goals. United’s defending is slipping these days and a brilliant offense can just take them apart.
Balotelli looked offsides on his second goal. Not that it mattered. United would have matched up better if Park, Giggs, Vidic, Chicharito were out there.
It seems like the result isn’t a shock only to us on this side of the pond but in England too. A lot more people over there “know much about football” and are getting excited about the blowout.
Ballotelli, Aguero, Silva etc etc etc. Man City has too much talent and is now starting to gel like a team. Scary.
Much to do about nothing. Even little brother gets a shot in from time to time when fighting big brother.
Silly red card game over. People who don’t really know much about football get excited over a really good team beating on a team with 10 men. What do people expect? For a minute there, I was telling myself that even with 10 men we could pull a point back. Just not hapenning. City is in form and lead the EPL. You give them a numbers advantage and you get burned. Writing on the wall is plain to see however, people are ready to bury United just because they got their a**es handed to them. They have not lost like that at home in how many years? Don’t bet on them losing again like that to city at home any time soon.
It would have been a perfect finish to a glorious day for us ManU haters if Rooney got a red card, alas we’ll have to settle for their worst loss since 1930.
Say what you like about United, they are possibly the last truly successful club run mostly on good leadership, wise transfers, and role players. Other than Rooney, no one who plays for United can be considered a megastar. Yet they still continue to be an example of excellence in the world’s most competitive league.
Man City might be awesome in the Homeric sense, but the way that they conduct business is cynical and downright sad for a sport that should honor some of the values the old school EPL clubs have stood for.
I second that. That said, I would have loved to watch either team take a 6-1 pounding.
BTW, Rooney’s behavior in the second half was predictable and hilarious. Lots of gestures, yelling at his teammates and the ref, semi cheap tackles/contact. All I could think of was spoiled brat.
As a neutral who is so tired of bandwagon Man U fans ad nauseum posting ‘glory glory united’ or ‘united til i die’ on websites like ESPN, I’m always troubled who to root for in these games. There is a bit of appeal to me in City because they are the new money attempting to break into the country club, but at the same time they are a much more egregious example of mega-club’s financial hegemony.
Though I’d love to be a fly on the wall in the post game locker room of Man U., I’d probably get incinerated by the Sir Alex blow dry treatment. What a game!

Nice! Hopefully they’ll rewrite the song

Man U how do you like them apples?
Did Evans take some jam with his toast?
Want some Bacon to go with that egg on you face?
Not a fan of teams buying championships but loving the fact that Man U is dying by the sword they lived by.
beaten by the almighty dollar (or mightier pound in this case)

If the Dynamo hadn’t secured 2nd in the MLS East today, this would have made my day in itself.
As a Valencia fan, was sad to see him leave 2 yrs ago. He is the man, though.
i know!
Silva sliced up United like a pinata. United could have used Roy Keane and Paul Scholes cause hit men Evans and Fletcher couldn’t catch him.
I always thought Jonny Evans was a card waiting to happen.
Wayne Rooney is nothing more than a man child. What an immature bum.
I went with “Holy Crippity Crap”, but yes.
City 6 United 1, David Silva is number 1…

Not even close.
Wasn’t that second goal an own goal?
Exactly how I feel!

Time to get Brek Shea in there.

Beautiful goals…
That last pass by Silva…my god.
Holy Sh!tb@lls!
