For players looking to end a goal-scoring drought, one goal is usually enough to help end the skid and provide a confidence boost. For Marco Pappa, one goal wasn't enough as he provided a reminder of just how dangerous a player he can be.

Pappa's hat-trick performance in Chicago's 3-0 beating of Real Salt Lake was one of the best games of the season and made Pappa the easy pick for MLS Player of the Week this week. He didn't just score, but he scored in impressive fashion.

Pappa edged out a good field of candidates that included Fredy Montero, Kei Kamara and Eddie Gaven to name a few.

What did you think of Pappa's performance? Who would have gotten your vote this week?

  1. I really like Pappa and would love to see him continue to do great things on a consistent basis. Now would be a good time to make a statement, with the club still scratching for the playoffs and the Open Cup for the taking.

  2. As I Fire fan, I’m disappointed in Marco’s season to-date and it’s more than just the lack of goals — just haven’t seen him create issues for opposing teams. His passing, decision making and at times effort have all been suspect from a player most Fire fans viewed as ready to step up after all the offensive turn-over at the club.

That said, truly a worthy “Player of the Week” performance and hopefully a sign Marco will step up and help the Fire push for 5th Open Cup and an MLS playoff spot.

  3. As a fire fan I couldn’t agree more with this pick for the week’s MVP.

As for next year, I don’t see him making a season-long impact of the same magnitude, but I welcome if if he’s got it in him.

  4. as a guatemalan, i absolutely love this pick!

Really good to see him score again. I think he is going to finish the season strong and come back with a potential MVP season next year.

yes that is coming from a guatemalan bias.
