Couldn’t agree with you more about the LA media! I’m a SJ fan.
@Alex
I’m not disappointed by Ream b/c I have MLS Direct Kick. I have actually watched this kid play many many MLS games, I don’t just read about him in the media. I knew exactly what to expect. The reason so many people are “disappointed” is they believed the silly NY media hype machine overhyping this guy.
@ TimReamBlows – Yes, he isn’t ready for the international level but he can’t be JK’s Bornstein since he just saw the field for the first time last night. I doubt he gets called in for awhile.
@ Alex – No, Orozco wasn’t at fault for ANY goals. he got beat a few times, but recovered well enough. he’s not a starter, that’s for sure, but unlike Bornstein, he deserves a place on the bench with Goodson.
Lots of negativity in the comments I saw on ESPN, and on here after the game. I, for one, am happy to see a constant improvement in the overall quality of play of the US. Wins and losses are truly secondary in these friendlies.
Tim Ream: I don’t think he has the ability to mark a powerful striker. He’s simply not quick enough; he’s definitely intelligent enough.
Onyewu: Wow, how much better are we when he is in form?
Agudelo: He’s my favorite passer. He holds up the ball very well, and gets out of tight spaces fluidly. Why Ives gave him such a low rating on Foxsoccer is beyond me. . .
Beckerman is good at breaking up plays, and does okay passing out of the back.
I could go on, but I’m happy with what I see, and it’s actually appealing to watch for the first time EVER
I’d say Orozco is Klinsi’s Bornstein, but I tend to agree with your statement otherwise. I was high on Ream at first but have been thoroughly unimpressed and disappointed by his performances since he gave up that penalty to Panama in the Gold Cup.
Yes, because the LA Hype Machine has done absolutely nothing to let us know just how amazing Gonzalez is. And don’t forget the striking mastery of Christman and Barrett. Or let us remember how Todd Dunivant is the best left back we’ve seen in decades. Oh, and how could you forget how amazing Sean Franklin is…an all-star even. And, what a debut by Brian Perk after the best back-up goal keeper on Earth, Josh Saunders, got injured! Perk was God that day. And, Mike McGee – player of the f’n week for donning a keeper’s jersey. Move of the year! Get real with this media hype nonsense.
I was at the game, and everyone in my section would yell “Not to Demarcus!” every time the ball went to the US’s left side. We also made a drinking game out of every time he either fell, or lost the ball. Great fun was had by all.
Tim Ream freaking sucks. Overrated product of the NY media hype machine. Omar Gonzalez and George John have been ahead of him on the depth chart for a while now. He is quickly becoming Klinsy’s “Bornstein.”
Beckerman is useless going forward. Turnover machine.
um… Klinsi and others said we had a great first half… why was this not reflected in the highlights?

i take that back, it’s NYRB fans.
i don’t see how that’s fun or ok…heckling your own player?

Jeeeeez, you would think we were playing in Ecuador by how loud it got when ecuador scored
Can somebody get Tim Ream a Temperpedic so he can be comfortable while he is sleeping on D.
