  1. Klinsmann seems to really like Beckerman. While few of us have been very accurate at predicting Klinsmann’s starting 11, it now looks like a safe bet that Altidore, Dempsey, Donavon, Shea, Beckerman, Chandler, Onyewu, Cherundolo, Boca and probably Williams, maybe Torres or F. Johnson will figure prominently in his future starting lineups. That is not my choice, but is what I surmise from who Klinsmann has started and the comments he has made.

Like a lot of people, I think he needs to really find other options in the back 4, since even a single injury to one of those players leaves the roster without a decent backup (I know lots of people have their favorites, Orozco and Castillo still get favorable comments from Klinsmann but I wonder if that is not just Klinsy not wanting to say anything bad in public about a player who may improve and be needed later, some on this board seem to really like Gonzalez and/or John or have hopes for Lichaj, but any of those seem to be a step down from the likely starters).

The middle of the field has more depth and Klinsmann seems to think his 2nd choice players right now are : Bradley, Edu, Beasley, Holden when he recovers and maybe Rogers. Klinsmann has been pretty tight lipped on Bedoya and Feilhaber, but you never know.

Up top, Aguedelo and ? Again forward is not a position of strength or depth for the US. Davies, Buddle, Wondolowski, fill in your name it is not so clear who Klinsy might favor there.

  2. I love the attacking style that Klinsmann brings but my problem is the roster that he’s calling in. Call up players on the rise and lets see some new faces…

Bradley called in an in-experienced young roster last November vs South Africa…

Start calling in the dual citizenship players : acuna, corona, body, brooks, seb hines, john, gonzalez, bije, keiswetter.

  3. And that we’re suffering quite a bit from injuries to some key players (torres, Landycakes). I understand Beckerman is very good defensively but when you trade the passing torres provides for the passing beckerman provides you end up without many chances in front of goal. Also excited to see johnson get a run. It’s a process, and I’m bummed out with the results but I’m excited to see this team gel more leading up to qualifying. When you overhaul a team like this it’s no doubt gonna take a while to figure out what works best.

  4. I disagree. We learned that Onyewu is back and ready to be the starting CB. I also think we learned Timmy Chandler handled a quality opponent in Valencia and is no longer auditioning for the LB position, he owns it.

  5. I’ve been happy all the way up to the Ecuador game. I don’t see what we learned in the Ecuador game that we did not already know. There was no building on the Honduras experience and after 2 friendlies in November the next FIFA date is in February when there is one (1) date.

  7. Probably because he watches every single US match carefully and understands that Bradley is comfortably the best (healthy) center mid in our pool right now.

  8. The difference is that BB was playing the easy route with his team. Nothing drastically different from Arena other than inserting MB into the middle and creating the empty bucket. Klinsi is doing a complete overhaul by inserting several new players and allowing them to attack. Is it coincidence that Brek Shea looks better under Klinsi? I expect growing pains, and even though the results are annoying, come qualifying time, we’ll have our winning team.

  9. I wonder how many games the nats have to lose before people will start scream fire Klinsi. People what calling for bradley’s head even when he won. I’m not calling for klinsi’s head or anything but I’m just wondering.
