This weekend's English Premier League action marked the one-third point of the season, leaving plenty of soccer left to play, but Manchester City could put a stranglehold on first place in England with a win against Liverpool today.
The Reds are the only thing standing between City and a seven-point lead atop the Premier League, and Liverpool has its own motivation for wanting to win at Anfield today. A victory would push Kenny Dalglish's men past Arsenal and into a tie with Chelsea, just a point behind Newcastle for fourth place.
If you want to watch an American player taking on a top European club, look no further than Serie A, where Michael Bradley and Chievo Verona take on AC Milan at the San Siro. Chievo has won two straight to climb into the top half of the Serie A standings, and could catapult to as high as fifth place with an upset victory.
In France, Paris St. Germain will look to move back into a tie for first place with surprising Montpelier by beating rival Olympique Marseille in the top Ligue 1 match of the weekend.

Its more the economy than anything else

It would be wonderful if Lil Mikey could come to the same decision, really.
Spot on – Bradley is good enough for US.
G-Spot: READ my post. I was referring to one incident, not the entire game. I don’t wear the same rose-colored glasses you wear. Bradley was twice rated BMG’s top MF by Kicker and I reported it HERE. I know what potential he has, but I also know his pitfalls. You, on the other hand, tend to give him a free pass and praise him as if he is the wunderkind of US football. Look at the Whole and not the Parts that make the Whole.
He’s started four all year, usually due to injuries, and kicker rates him worse than the rest of the actual starting xi. Same kicker that called bradley our best player in sa.
I really don’t like bringing yanks down, but you’re bradley hate is inconsistent and not at all reasonable.
bradley is just not very good. europe doesnt rate him but he will always have a place on the US national team side because well the US national side is average…
Started Friday, G-spot. Paderborn is 3 points out of first. Working pretty well.
Hey kaiser, how’s matt taylor doing? Paderborn been ripping it up?
… Thought so. (and your boy taylor still doesn’t start)
Yeah, that’s what the Fox Soccer guys do during MLS matches.
Balotelli played a total of 20 minutes before being sent off. What a disgrace.
I get it, the Truth is that you’re related to Bradley.
Ives, it’s pointless to discuss with the mixers of lies and truths, whether one believes in anything or not…it’s universal, or even more hip, multiversal 🙂
It’s called the Serie BlAh! i saw a match there 2 years ago and the 80K stadium was half full – sad.
Move Milan!
And for someone named the Truth, you sure can tell a Lie, or can BS with the best. Put the crack pipe down and maybe you won’t dream the Truth. Bradley moved towards the ball after leaving Tiago and saw the other guy marked and realized his own mistake. he was 5 meters from Tiago. Open your eyes and get on the clue train.
Italian soccer is not in good shape, based on the play I’ve seen so far this year, all the 0-0 scores, and empty seats everywhere.
(Not a dig). Not sure that “bring the ball up over half” is a good proxy for where the attacks a) either really get ignited or b) translate into meaningful or quality chances. Am no way defending Bradley; however as I watch this match, there is much more of the Milan offense amounting to chances once the ball is redirected (in this half) from the Chievo right to left, even if the ball is first moved over the half line into “Bradley’s zone”.
+1
10 of Milan’s last 13 attacks were down Bradley’s side. An attack being defined as bringing the ball up over half.
So yeah, no.
right.
I’ll stop trying Khan, no problem
Empty seats at San Siro. What kind of rinky dink league is this?
Ives tweeted that UNC beat Indiana in OT. I think cbssports.com is streaming a couple of today’s Round of 16.
No it was hilarious. We found a local stream through roja and the guys were CRAZY. It was shutdown at half time sadly.
Are you guys kidding about the Italian announcer calling him an effing idiot?
anybody got any NCAA scores?
Seems that Chievo’s coach agreed about Bradley’s positioning, he moved him to the right.
(SBI-Wrong. Moving Bradley doesn’t “confirm” that Bradley has been caught out of position. It actually shows the coach is concerned with his right flank getting abused. And guess what? So far in the second half now Milan is attacking the other side of the field, away from Bradley.)
You might want to brush up on your Italian. There’s a difference between announcers saying Bradley is being caught out of position, and PLAYING out of position.
ESPN3 has replay, so you can watch it again and report back all the MB errors, real or imagined. I didn’t see them.
