  1. Hudson just kinda annoyed me this time. I feel like he knows he has a reputation he has to live up to now every time he steps in front of a mic.

  2. Alexis Sanchez has arrived and supplanting David villa is not easy. With all the astronomically paid backups that mourinho has like Kaka I was never nervous about Madrid mounting a come back. The gap is smaller but barca is still has the deadliest harpoon.

  3. Should of been a higher scoring game then it was. Just proves with all the money In the world can’t buy you good technical finishing and I think some Real Madrid players are showing symptoms of lyclownthropy.

  4. Barca’s first goal shows why Messi is the best player in the world. Against some tight marking, he splits two defenders and sends a great pass to Alexis who, as Ray Hudson notes, doesn’t have time for more than two touches. They needed all their technical skill to create that goal against a very good defense

  5. And yet people don’t feel sorry for the officials or try to maybe understand what they’re going through or help them. They’re just evil criminal referees who deserve whatever horrors can be visited on them.

    Messed up world.

  6. My sides hurt b/c I was laughing so hard at Hudson’s commentary!! The running “daggers” metaphor was just too funny!

And then the screams at every missed chance (for both teams). I so want Ray to call my kids’ soccer matches.

  7. John Harkes is a clown.

Slips like Bambi on ice is hilarious, and Ray Hudson is one of the great commentators because of his highly metaphorical style of bringing fans into the game.

  8. You’re probably right about the lack of an ejection. Mourihno has been allowed to create such an atmosphere of distrust and conspiracy that officials are afraid for their careers and in some instances (the ref that was forced to retire and go into protective custody after Mourinho accused him of cheating for an opposing team) their lives.

  9. Not as close as the score indicates, Barcelona weathered the initial surge and then just dominated. Casillas was man of the match for Madrid, denying Iniesta a hat trick at least.

What the hell was Ronaldo doing? Once again he and Messi go head to head and Messi comes out in top by a longshot. Ronaldo killed Madrid…. selfish play, choked a half dozen opportunities. Player of the year? Not in a million.

Oh, and Ramos not being shown a second yellow or straight red for the double studs up tackle that Messi avoided by pogo sticking into the air was just sad. I saw an official who was worries about ramifications of ejecting a Madrid player regardless of validity.

  10. That game alone should take Ronaldo out of the running for player of the year. Worst player on the pitch for either team.

Iniesta had a game for the ages. Simply astounding. That chip over Contrao near the end of the match blew my mind.

How Ramos made it out of this game with only a yellow card is criminal. If the match is anywhere but in Madrid, Barcelona are up at least one man.

    Valdes. Facepalm.

Messi. What can you say, he’s Lionel Messi. Barcelona needed a spark and he took the game into his hands and delivered a perfect pass for Sanchez after a tantalizing run through the entire Madrid midfield and defense. Simply the best.
