There are just two games on the slate today, but when those two games are as good Manchester City-Chelsea (3pm, ESPN2) and Roma-Juventus (2:30pm, Fox Soccer Channel), it makes for a special afternoon.

Manchester City will look to keep their stranglehold on the Premier League lead with a win, while Chelsea will look to hand the Citizens their first loss of the season as they try to maintain a place in the Top Four of the Premier League.

In Italy, Juventus will try to climb back into first place in Serie A with a win in Rome, against a Roma side that could jump up five places with a win.

If you will be watching today's big matches, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

  1. And its all over. Guess we had to take a loss sometime. Started out well but Chelsea bounced back to tie and through a stupid mistake by City, converted the PK to win. Think AVB and Chelsea got a bit lucky with this one, considering his tactics.

  2. Just reporting whats happening guys. I agree, the guy is old. But he just converted the penalty and as it stands, Chelsea win because of it.

And I am a City fan for those who may want to cry rose colored glasses.

  3. Frank’s a class player, but the guy is old as dirt.

Not beating Man City after having a man advantage for almost half the game is a worse career move in my mind than pushing forward and potentially being beat.

  4. To be fair, AVB’s job has been on the line and a draw is much better career wise than pushing forward and maybe giving up the game with a man advantage.

Also you’re talking about Frank Lampard, not exactly a bottom of the barrel player there.

  5. I didn’t say it couldn’t have been a red, I just don’t think that with that little strength in the tackle that it could have been a career-ender. Apparently other people share my opinion of Macca being biased.

  6. AVB is handing this game to City, this is hilariously poor coaching.

You’re a man up at home and you take off your attacking central midfielder for a deeper lying midfielder who hasn’t played in a good while.

  7. Well I should qualify my statement. Raul made two studs up challenges so two yellow cards would have been warrented. On this play I posted more in reaction to Kompany’s challenge that made me think “you are already on a yellow and you run over someone? Really?”

  8. Did anyone else see Meireles throw Drogba’s arm away with disgust when Drogba tried to hug him?

And Meireles should be red carded for a very late stud tackle to the lower knee cap/shin area. Ridiculous tackle.
