The two best teams in the world prepare to square off today in the highly-anticipated match-up of Spanish giants FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The latest chapter of 'El Clasico' brings us Real Madrid in first place by three points, but knowing that Barcelona has gotten the better of them in recent match-ups. Both sides roll in off impressive Champions League success, but today's clash will be the toughest test either side has faced all season.

It will be a busy day in England, where Arsenal will look to build on their Champions League success against Tim Howard and Everton, a match that should see Mike Arteta face his former club for the first time. Clint Dempsey will look to build on his game-winning goal against Liverpool when he leads Fulham against Swansea City.

  1. Nah. Mourinho complains so much about not being able to field a full squad due to the refereeing, they have almost no choice but to keep the tarjeta vermella in their pockets, lest they incite the wrath of Mou.

Great performance by the boys from Catalunya. Visca Barca!

  2. I wouldn’t say that goal was gifted, but his mistake led to Newcastle’s build-up. There were still 2 defenders behind Whitbread, and Demba Ba was outnumbered despite still being able to put it in.

This was the first time I’ve seen Whitbread play and I think it was only his 2nd appearance of the season. He was pretty dominant in the air, and stepped up into space well a few times. Other times, however, he committed to bad tackles and got beat.

At least he’s healthy, though, and Norwich pulled out the win.

  3. Yeah, there is some good stuff there for sure. I’m just looking for something a bit more extensive and better organized. I’ll keep an eye out. Thanks though.

  4. Respect to Barca they weathered the early Madrid storm and showed toughness as well as the exquisite skill they are known for.

    Very poor game from Ronaldo.

  5. Great Clasico. Much more even than the score indicates. Barcelona were more ruthless on the finish. They also shut down the wide play of Ronaldo and DiMaria who have been destroying teams lately. Hats off to Lass who had more tackles on Messi than some teams do all year. Madrid needed another Lass to mark Iniesta who was incredible once more.

  6. Ha – good one. But Barca always beating Real is is like the roadrunner and the coyote – I’m starting to root for the coyote….

  7. Sleep well, little children! Good triumphs over evil once again! The world is a better place, this Barca side, the essense of football, the best team in the history of the beautiful game, teaches yet another lesson the arrogant bastards of Real Madrid!

Oh, Ramos tried to kill Messi, and only got a yellow?!?!

Oh, and CR7, goes missing in a big game, again…what else is new?
