Mauro Rosales enjoyed an outstanding first season in Major League Soccer, leading Seattle's high-powered offense and earning MLS Newcomer of he Year honors in the process.
The Sounders rewarded Rosales outstanding debut, and secured his services in the process, signing the 30-year-old playmaker to a multi-year contract. Seattle general manager Adrian Hanauer revealed that the new deal is a two-year deal with a third option year.
Rosales recorded a Sounders record 13 assists along with five goals in 2011, helping Seattle win a third-straight U.S. Open Cup and qualify for the quarterfinals for the CONCACAF Champions League.
What do you think of this development? Excited to see Rosales return in 2012? See him challenging for MLS MVP honors next season?

Like they protected Javi Morales?
Actually that’s not official. Hanauer said he could be the 3rd DP.
Supposedly it’s “DP money,” but they used allocation money to buy down his wages to keep the DP slot open. Good for Seattle.
there was…..two days ago
I really do love watching this guy play. Smart, determined, skilled.
An easy decision for the Seattle front office to make. It’ll be interesting to see how Rosales plays out over the course of his multi-year contract. Last season was due or die for him as a player so hopefully he continues to play like his back is up against the wall.

Easiest signing to make, I just hope they are paying him in the 200k range because he is by far the most important player on the team. They are good without him, but he takes them to another level when he is on the field. They looked different without him.
As a Timbers fan … I am bummed.
As an MLS fan. GREAT SIGNING!!!
*Can you believe Queretaro opted in not signing this guy before the 2011 season, just because they dint want to use up their final foreigner spot.*

This guy is all class. Good to see he’ll be around for a couple more years.
Our best player, very cool. SSFC
No mention of Mexico Apertura Final??? There should be some CONCA-news about the match.
Great move for Seattle and the League to keep a skill player in the league. I wish he was American
I hope the league starts protecting him.
Excellent news for the Sounders. Terrible news for the rest of the league.
Biggest no-brainer of the year. They need to add some thump though.
