They could not draw AC Milan as they were in the same group the phase before. Not having to go to Russia is probably the saving grace for them. In the final 16 is there really any bad teams they could have drawn?
I disagree RE: Barcelona. I’d say as far as 2nd seeds go Leverkusen is no worse than 4th, and maybe 3rd. Since I don’t believe they could have drawn Milan, I’d say they drew just about as difficult of a team as they could have.
Bad draw for English and Italian teams. Barcelona lucky as usual.
