The U.S. U-17 men's national team scored a beautiful opening goal and another in second-half stoppage time to tie France, 2-2, in the team's Nike International Friendlies opener on Wednesday.
Wesley Wade earned the Americans a result at Premier Sports Complex in Lakewood Ranch, Fla when he scored a goal in the 93rd minute following a long throw-in. DeAndre Robinson scored the opener for the United States, hitting a beautiful curled effort into the top corner in the 25th minute.
The result leaves Wilmer Cabrera's men tied with France for second place in the four-team tournament after Brazil defeated Turkey, 1-0, in the other match of the day.
The U.S. team next faces Turkey on Friday.

Not to continue on the Jimmy Conrad bandwagon here, but I enjoyed hearing a commentator be able to offer something about the defenders other than “a good block by so and so”… I remember him pointing out the fullback’s offensive duties and other’s covering for them a couple a times with some explination.
Funny how like every shot by the US had that nasty curve to the right (is that a hook in golf or a slice?) like the first goal. I remember seeing it again on the one that hit the bar from pretty deep. Maybe they’ve been working on that in practice?
I loved how before halftime Mark Rogandino said “we’ll have a special guest here during halftime.. a little hint, they called him ‘Captain America'” and Conrad says, “I’ve been sitting by you all night” then total silence from Rogandino who either didn’t hear it or didn’t get it.
i believe he’s done a couple CCL matches for FSC as well.
yeah, moore was a beast all night. always nice to have promising fullbacks.
that Donovan kid is gonna be good. Also really like #11 and #4.
I thought he was awesome too.
Anyone catch what Jimmy Conrad said about the two central defenders, one (Donovan?) was the big, burly destroyer type and the other other (Turner?) was that faster, sweeper type….his comment is pretty consistent with the full MNT….like how they are trying to play the same system all they through the age levels
Good job broadcasting the game last night by Jimmy Conrad. If that was his first time in the color commentary seat then we can expect a nice career to follow.
way to go guys. Let them train and become more close as a group and advance to the u-20’s and u-23’s and then the NT. help them find their ways to Europe though a season in MLS can’t hurt.
