Clint Dempsey enjoyed a career year in England in 2011, and he will look to take his first step toward a great 2012 when he and Fulham take on Arsenal in today's slate of English Premier League matches.

Chelsea kicks things off today, hoping to erase the bad taste of a stunning lost to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Brad Guzan was on the winning end of that shocker, and he will look to make it two wins in three days when he and Aston Villa take on Swansea City at Villa Park.

  1. Add Frei in the mix and it’s a very multi-talented mix on the ball. The 4 of them are each exciting to watch work the ball in their own very individual ways.

Danny Murphy can’t keep up. A great passer of the ball, but he needs to step aside. Loses possession all too often. Slow getting back too for a key CM. Sidwell and Etuhu with Zamora in front and 3/4 of the aforementioned amf’s suits the side well.

  2. I haven’t watched much SPL, but the Ranger’s striker, Lafferty wasn’t as good as Kenny Cooper the day I watched them lose to Celtic.

  3. seriously why don’t we hear about big clubs coming in for Dempsey? Not Barca, Man U or AC Milan but what about the Napolis, the Sevillas, the PSG’s, the Schalkes. The teams that either make it to the CL or are in the EL every season. Teams that finish 3rd-5th place every season.

Dude has scored 39 league goals in 5 years in the PL with a small team like Fulham. Helped take them to the EL final in 2010. Has started in 2 WC’s, scoring in both. Arguably the best player at Fulham.

  4. Fulham deserved the 3 points. Dempsey made nice runs and passes. The Fulham mid-field of Dembele, Dempsey and Ruiz is very talented and puts Chelsea’s to shame. They still have a shot at 7 or 8.

  5. Also worth noting that Dempsey’s pass to Ruiz opened up the Arsenal defense, leading to Zamora’s deflected shot, which produced the corner kick on which Fulham scored. Clint doing it with his head, his feet and his hands tonight.

  6. Nice subtle push by Dempsey, into the back of Koscielny, knocking him off balance and into Szcesny’s path, kept him from getting more on the ball… and it’s a goal for Fulham.

  7. I’m really liking Fulham in this game – they’ve had the majority of possession and are playing open and offensive. It’s one of Fulham’s least frustrating I’ve seen.

  8. so frustrating watching fulham play. their a good team who get sloppy in the final third. just give Dempsey the ball in the box and he will score!!

  9. if you ask me, im curious how long Bradley will be at CHievo? I can see Napoli or Lazio or even Roma moving for him in a year or 2 if he keeps his solid play up

  10. didn’t Arsenal or Sevilla put a 10 million pound bid on him 5 months ago?

I’d love to see him at a bigger club. He’s already a LEGEND at Fulham. I mean what could 4-5 years there do for him or his career. Fulham is at best a top 10 PL team, at worse a relegation fodder team.

I’d say head to a Arsenal/Liverpool or overseas to a Sevilla/PSG. He’d get more cash, more compeition and higher chance of CL football. He may not be able to start morethan 50% of the games, but I can imagine he loves a challenge. Plus CL aspirations is what he is after, seems to me he’s waiting on a good enough offer.

  12. Fulham game is fun to watch. It’s open and fast with lots of action. Fulham is looking good and if they keep this up, they should score in the 2nd half – with Ruiz & dempsey looking the most promising.

  13. Great individual effort by Ruiz on that shot. Seems to be more comfortable in the run of play as of late. Hope he and Deuce can hook up today in leading Fulham back.

  14. Dempsey with the hat-trick

Is Guzan leaving AV come summer for another PL team? why not try a team in Germany or France or even top teams in Holland or Portugal

  15. Definitely was hoping Bedoya would earn his way into the Ranger’s lineup by now and regardless wondering why he chose this club over other offers. Yes, they get into Europe and certainly can be a stepping stone to EPL but not sure (and speculating here) whether his game is well suited to SPL as opposed to Holland, Belgium or another second tier league that would be a meaninful step up from Sweden. There’s still time so hope he can make an impression before the season ends.

  16. Anybody a little bummed about Bedoya’s struggles at Rangers? I don’t know how much of it can be attributed to injuries, and how much to form?

Apparently Edu had an assist today and Boca had a header cleared off the line?

I was really hoping ‘Gers would flourish once they got our 3 yanks, but that hasn’t been the case. Hopefully they get back on track.

  17. Guzan with most of the responsibility for swansea’s 2nd goal

(SBI-Some, not most. It started with a forced back-pass to him, then some shoddy defending after his kick was turned over.)
