  1. And don’t forget the new crop of rookies, some promising guys in that group, if RSL can find enough international slots so that they can make the team.

  2. Excited about Luis Gil and RSL’s side this year. If the team can stay healthier this season they can stay in the hunt. Also a breakout year from Gil or Pauolo Jr or both could mean great things for RSL.

  3. No. 44 for New York is Victor Palsson, 20 year old Icelandic guy. Three things you should know about him: He was at Liverpool a few years back and was the captain of the reserve team. He was last at Hibernian, where he managed to get banned from all of Edinburgh’s nightclubs because he pissed on a wall that wasn’t a urinal or outside at one. And, lastly, Metros fans are optimistic about him.

  4. Just back from the double header, or 3/4 of it, since we left at halftime of the second.

Quick thoughts: Feilhaber — very smooth cutting through the defense. Buddle — missed lots of good chances. After the first game, a fan ran on the field to get her picture taken with Beckham, as he spoke with Hans Backe. He agreed to the picture, but it seemed they couldn’t get the phone’s camera to work! In the 2nd game, Corey Hertzog for NYRB looked weird to me for a while till I finally realized — he wasn’t wearing shin guards! His socks were down around his ankles. Finally, who was No. 44 for New York? He looked great, charging up the middle confidently from a defensive or defensive mid position.

  5. The City of San Jose Planning Commission has voted to deny the neighborhood appeal. The San Jose Earthquakes new stadium can finally move forward.

  6. “NY plays Pumas tomorrow night.”

Is NY preparing for a Mexican league campaign or for MLS? Has their “A” team played a MLS side yet in preseason?
