D.C. United could find itself without goalkeeper Bill Hamid quite a bit in 2012 as the U.S. national team netminder and potential Olympian stands poised to have a busy year. With that in mind, DC added a veteran goalkeeper to help provide some cover.

DC signed former Chicago Fire goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra on Monday. Dykstra began the 2010 season as the Chicago Fire's starting goalkeeper, but eventually lost the job to then-rookie Sean Johnson before eventually being waived and landing with the Charleston Battery.

Dykstra will battle second-year goalkeeper Joe Willis for the DC United No. 2 goalkeeper job behind Hamid. He could be in the lineup for DC against Charleston on Wednesday in the Carolina Challenge Cup.

Here are some other stories to wrap up your Monday:

IMPACT WAIVE WESTLAKE

The Montreal Impact have parted ways with midfielder Ian Westlake, waiving him on Monday, making him the latest victim of a crowded Impact midfield.

Westlake joined the NASL version of the Montreal Impact in 2011 after a lengthy career in England, but he was unable to establish himself in Jesse Marsch's squad during the pre-season.

REVS BRING IN TRIALISTS

The New England Revolution continue to look at new faces ahead of the new MLS season, and have added a pair of new trialists to the list of players Jay Heaps has checked out.

Former New York Red Bull and D.C. United midfielder Austin Da Luz has joined Revs camp, while forward Bobby Kirobi Devyne has also come into camp looking for a spot in the Revolution's thin forward stable.

The new arrivals come after the Revs bid farewell to former Arsenal academy player and trialist Tom Cruise.

MORGAN SIGNS WITH SOUNDERS WOMEN

There may be no formal affiliation between the Seattle Sounders MLS team and the Sounders Women's team, but Seattle soccer fans have to be excited about news that Alex Morgan has signed with the Sounders Women for the upcoming W League season.

Morgan joins fellow U.S. national team stars Hope Solo and Sydney LeRoux as high-profile signings by the Sounders Women, who will play their games at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila, Wa.

Morgan is dating Seattle Sounders midfielder and college sweetheart Servando Carrasco.
