Miguel Angel Ponce and Marco Fabian are among the 20 players called in by Mexico Under-23 coach Luis Fernando Tena for Wednesday's friendly against the United States U-23 national team at FC Dallas Stadium.
Ponce, a Mexican-American left back, and Fabian, his club teammate and a star attacker for Chivas de Guadalajara, highlight the roster, which does not include Olympic-eligible players such as Giovani dos Santos, Jonathan dos Santos or Carlos Vela. The Dos Santos brothers will be with the senior team for its friendly against Colombia at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, which is taking place on the same day as the U-23 match.
Here is the Mexico roster for the friendly with the U.S. U-23s:

yeah i was kind of making reference to that gold cup b/c the us made that argument non stop. I actually had alot of respect for that team in 09 b/c they were a b team and every other country had their a team. mexico didnt even make a breakthrough until the second half so it was a fairly close game… but things change and mexico is producing far superior talent to that of the usmnt. it is a fact, live with it. until the us wins a fifa turnament at any level u can shut me up. mexico has been in great form under de la torre and they will only get better as some of the younger players come into the fold.. as for the usmnt they have had a rocky start ever since klinsman steped in and it will take time to get their system going. come 2013 gold cup when the usmnt a team beats the mexico b team the only thing i will take from that is that mexico has tremendous depth to be able to make a final with a secondary team, no excusses for why they lost (just being hyperthetical)
bocanegra doesnt even speak english.

Even if he isn’t stating all facts, he never claimed them to not be of Mexican heritage or background. He simply say they are American because they were born in the US.
As far as them growing up in Mexico….I don’t know how much of that is true, I’ve read that Ponce went to school here, more to the style of using the resources of the US like all good Mexicans like to do that are of the kind that claim all this Mexican pride, that their children are Mexican because it’s in their blood and all this blah blah blah but I don’t see most going there? Hell at least Ponce’s family made an attempt to have him grow up somewhat in Mexico even if in a Border town with the US.
He played with his schools in San Ysidro which is south of San Diego, the town on the US side of the border with Tijuana, Mexico. He played with clubs in Baja California, Mexico so how much exactly did he “grow up” in Mexico going back and forth, granted from a place with a strong Mexican background and population in the San Ysidro/San Diego region
