What started as a landmark day for Robbie Rogers quickly turned into a forgettable one.
After making his Leeds United debut as a 79th-minute substitute, the U.S. international winger had to be stretchered off the field after a violent head-to-head collision with Doncaster Rovers' Tommy Spurr, one that delayed the game for multiple minutes during second-half stoppage time. Sources told SBI that Rogers suffered a concussion as a result of the collision and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. He is said to be doing fine, but there is no definitive timetable for his return.
Leeds, playing under interim manager Neil Redfearn for the final time before former Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock takes over, battled back from a 2-0 deficit in the second half to win 3-2, getting the game-winner on a blast from the edge of the area by Luciano Becchio in the ninth minute of stoppage time.
For Rogers, Saturday marked the second time he had made the matchday roster in five opportunities since completing his transfer to the League Championship side that is in a tight race for a place in the promotion playoffs.
