Henry had a beautiful pass to cooper for the one red bulls goal.
RBNY need a playmaking midfielder badly. I’ve been out the loop, where is marquez? is he hurt? Lets see what happens once rafa and luke are back? Those defenders look slow and clumsy. However the goalie was great yesterday. He saved the team from a complete humiliation. It looked like the manager had no gameplan whatsoever…..just hoping henry would make a play and bail them out.
There were no highlights for Red Bull. I may be beating a dead horse, but how much more uninspired and poorly managed futbol do we need to see to understand that NYRB have become another IK Start or Notts County? And the only comfort zone for Soler/Backe seems to be securing Scandanavians – 10 players or coaches on current roster! I can understand if there is a standout or two that is brought in, but what’s going on here? A complete departure from the strategy of the successful teams in the league — LA is just one example with its US, Brazilian and ex-Premiership players. I guess if guys don’t understand futbol and have no scouting/recruiting network, they talk to the only people they know? But what a disaster. How many young talents are we missing in other corners of the soccer world while NYRB search throughout Finland, Norway and Iceland for Backe’s type of player? Holgersson was quite a pick-up though…
So, Shane was killed off from The Walking Dead, any thoughts on that Ives?… I kid.
I was trilled with everyone in the DFW Metroplex for showing up to Frisco for the game. Good turn out!
Good thing this was played in Frisco.
Otherwise it would have been another unimpressive non-sellout in our country’s best stadium with one of the games biggest stars of this generation playing for it.
Keeny Cooper pulled one back for New York in the 78th, lobbing a shot over Kevin Hartman after being played in by Thierry Henry, and it looked as though the miss from Perez might come back to haunt the home side.
Was he really good in the preseason? I’m honestly asking. I was at the NYRB-Pumas game here in PHX, and he looked positively awful. It’s only one game, of course, but did he look better toward the end of preseason?
Ummmm, have you not paid attention to the last 3 or so seasons?
Backe thinks the team will win solely by virtue of its supreme Euro-ness.
As an FCD fan; I loved the game. Great result. It still amazes me the lack of respect that the local Dallas guy Kenny Cooper gets nationally. I could not believe he did not start the game for the Red Bulls, especially after he had a good preseason. If he gets a chance to actually play; he will easily be a 15+ goal scorer this season. I hope Klinnsman saw him today & is keeping an eye on him for the national team. Go Kenny Cooper! Keep working hard & scoring goals. Sooner or later, they will have to respect you.
Yeah, what’s with these “highlights”?
seriously. what’s the point of taking one of the greatest strikers in history and playing him as a central midfielder?
red bull is in serious trouble if they can’t find someone to feed it to Titi in a place where he can do some serious damage.
Dax was worse. He had a horrible game. And Millar gave away the second goal.
*Two good take-away….
Too good take-away notes for the Red Bulls after this match.
1) They have a goalkeeper. The 21 year kept the match to a 1 goal deficit. This could have easily been a 5 goal game with four in favor of FCD.
2) Kenny Cooper still has some juice left in those legs. As soon as he replaced Richards he had a major offensive impact on the field. Maybe taking Richards off had something to do with it… but the inclusion of Kenny Cooper was definitely a positive.
Henry playing so far back made no sense and crippled the attack. Tiano was god awful…
Someone needs to have a word with NY’s fitness trainer. They did not look ready. Lindpere was roly-poly.
FCD looked good, but the true stand-out was this new central midfielder for New York. Thierry something . . .
Dear NYRB,
If you are looking for someone to turn things around, give me a call.
Mo
Must’ve been a pretty uneventful match… :/
That video sums up the match. This is the highlight.
not the right link. just shows one missed shot attempt
Great win for FCD, our new CB looks like a solid replacement for George John. Our depth on the wings is still questionable, though.
This is not a good link: does not show goals???
