Kei Kamara looked like he might be the player left facing the blame for Sporting Kansas City not keeping their record perfect as Sunday night's match against FC Dallas wound down to a close, but a brilliant sequence and clutch finished changed all that.

Kamara finished off an outstanding passing sequence to deliver the game-winning goal in Sporting KC's 2-1 victory against FC Dallas at Livestrong Sporting Park on Sunday. The goal came after Kamara had a penalty kick saved by Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman.

FC Dallas opened the scoring courtesy of a Ricardo Villar free kick, but Sporting KC responded with an Aurelien Collin header goal to tie things up. Kamara had a chance for the winner when Dallas gave up a penalty in the 50th minute, but Hartman stepped up and made an impressive diving save to deny the PK attempt.

Kamara found redemption in the 88th minute, capping a passing sequence finished off by Graham Zusi and Chance Myers to give Sporting KC their third victory of the season.

Here are the highlights:

  1. lets be honest. If any team in MLS is missing 4 players 3 of which would be starters and the 4th has been starting they would be struggeling.

  2. It’s too early to call anyone best (or worst) in the league. What you can say is this is a great start to the season for SKC!

  3. I don’t think you can label SKC “best” 3 wks in. 9 pts in 3 games is as best you can do though for yourself. FCD would have punished us a few times on mistakes if they had their playmakers I believe, but 3 pts is 3 pts

  4. To be fair to FC Dallas they were playing a full strength Sporting KC side and they are missing their three best attacking players

  5. That last goal was just pretty football. KC might be the best team in the league if they keep playing inspired offense like that.

Sorry to be “this guy” but I actually had to mute the video to turn off the commentators. The PBP guy was ok but the color guy was awful. Dude, less is more.
