  1. ditto. I don’t want “100s of games”. I want the Sounders season. Can you give me that?

Matches other than that are gravy, but I don’t order the gravy without the steak.

  2. Sat in the front row at SKC vs. NE, and it was a last-man break-away in which McCarthy denied a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Always a red card, and that did him in. If Sapong had been off the ball, then just a yellow. But it’s that “last man” denying a highlight-reel chance to clinched the red card for McCarthy.

  3. Is it just me or was the straight red shown McCarthy complete BS? I’ve only seen the highlight clip, but still…

  4. Another barrage of shots from SKC crushes mediocre defending. I’m amazed they only won 3-0. Having Joseph shift to CB actually improved the set piece defense for the Revs, but killed 80 percent of Revs’ ability to build up and limited chances. SKC just has too many good forwards/wingers. The absolute class of the East.

  5. Who needs Eddie Johnson or Sammy Ochoa? Sounders with a hat trick from David Estrada! This with Fredy Montero being subpar…3-1 over the Reds. Goal of the week candidate for Ryan Johnson in the loss for Toronto.

  6. Oh, I totally missed the red card when I flipped over to the Portland game. I guess that downgrades how slick KC has looked then, and explains Joseph at CB.

Agree Nguyen was having the best of a bad night. I really like the midfield that NE has built, and they’ve gone from a cure to insomnia last year to an intriguing team to watch in the early season.

  7. Best player on the field for the Revs. It’s been a tough game overall for the Revs, ever since McCarthy got shown a straight red in the 14th minute, which forced Joseph to play CB

  8. KC up 2-0 at the half, Dallas up on Portland 1-0 with Blas Perez scoring his first goal by cleaning up a rebound.

For MLS fans, KC-RSL on April 14th is going to be must-see.

  9. Lee Nguyen and Benny Feilhaber are finally able to put some passes together and put pressure on the KC goal. But KC look like they could score every time they come down the field.

And there it is, 2-0 KC, goal by Kamara, who takes a leprechaun hat from the crowd and does a jig for his goal celebration. Bobby Convey made it all happen down the wing. This game is wildly fun!

  10. NE getting run off the field by KC early. Convey steals the ball and puts Sapong 1v1 with Matt Reis, but he puts his shot right in the keeper’s chest.

  11. Really great atmosphere at KC, it’s all come together for them with the new stadium. Who saw that coming?

I enjoy MLS, and an impressive number of teams have players who make it worth my time to watch. I was actually looking forward to watching the Feilhaber-Joseph partnership at CM, but it looks like the Revs are playing Joseph at CB.

Goal KC! Zusi, 28th min. Revs couldn’t clear the ball from in front of the goal, and Zusi sticks it in for a junk goal. Home crowd loves it!

  12. Hopefully you guys have taken a break from debating to figure this out by now, but for those just tuning in… there was, in fact, a Canadian flag. The flags were displayed, in order: Canada, USA, Quebec, Montreal. Everyone relax.

  13. Indeed man, indeed. Once you start watching MLS it gets pretty addicting. It’s a very fun league when you give it a chance, and that quality is actually quite good, even if it’s not top-table EPL.

  14. So, I watched the Montreal-Chicago match and the San Jose-Houston match, and so far I’ve had as much fun with MLS as I have with EPL. I know that the quality isn’t always there, but seriously, I’ve sat through some poor, poor scenes this year watching English football. The Montreal match was interesting, and the San Jose match was really fast-paced.

The quality is now usually close enough that the local interest makes the matches more interesting than the foreign matches. Good.

  16. well i thought TSN really captured the atmosphere. idk how you guys were watching it. Gardner’s shot was an amazing miss. Corradi has a great touch. could of had 2 asissts from the gardner blast and nyassi’s shot that went straight to the keeper.

  17. No, they are redoing their outdoor grass stadium. They are playing in venerable indoor Olympic Stadium until that is ready. Saputo will be much smaller 20-24k as I understand it. That size seems perfect actually as this huge crowd was a one time thing and I suspect they will be able to fill Saputo and have a better atmosphere than they would in a cavernous stadium with 20-30k in it.

  18. Josh Gardner almost wrote the sports-movie ending with a 30 yard ROCKET that slammed off the post at about 94:54 on the clock. Montreal is offsides on the rebound and game ends 1-1.

I really disliked the Montreal stadium. You could hear some singing, but the few fans seated near the field just sat on their hands. They need to give the Supporter’s Club several sections of prime seating asap.

  19. The shots of the stands show about as much area for stairs as chairs. It’s also so cavernous behind the goals. Totally agree, the atmosphere is well below the Pacific NW teams. Is this where they are playing permanently?

  20. It was more the lack of stadium atmosphere being shown. The announcer actually kept alluding to the scene, but the broadcast never showed it. I’m a neutral in this game; I turned it on to mark the occassion

  21. Oh no, Chi tie it up, 1-1 70th. Decent flowing move forward, Gratini puts in a nice little chip, Oduro gets the touch into the net. Love to see a winner for the home team.

  22. Call me ignorant all you want. At least I didn’t equate flying a flag at a soccer game with separatists killing people. Maybe I should tell people to take down their Irish tri-colors this St Patrick’s day, because the IRA has killed people. (Same goes for just about any flag, by the way.)

In fact your rant more or less proves a point: no one cares, except someone who has a political, cultural or emotional stake against French Canadian’s asserting their heritage. The rest of us normal ignorant Americans will just go on thinking it’s pretty cool

  23. I think the atmosphere lacks the flare you are looking for. It seems to be a large group of dull French-Canadians sitting in their seats talking about wine. It has nothing to do with the Fire announcers or their broadcast.

  24. I think it’s time for Klopas to bench Pappa. He has been horrible and lazy on the ball. Robayo is ready to get a run out and prove himself.

  25. Why do you keep asking me if Im British? WTF, how is that relevant. I dont know if youve been to Quebec, but its just like the rest of Canada, it aint special. They speak French in lots of place in Canada, not just Quebec. But alot of the people that live there are anti Canada and want to separate and form their own country. Quebec separtists have killed people over it. Go google the FLQ. Some of them complain when people fly a Canada flag in Quebec, WHICH IS IN CANADA!! They dont fly an Ontario flag at TFC games. For MLS to allow them to do that is frickin embarrassing. Obviously you are pretty ignorant and have no idea what youre talking about, but youre american so I guess thats to be expected.

  26. Once again, why do you care? Seriously, please explain. Are you British Canadian?

Also, I clearly did not say it was a separate country. I said it was a separate cultural identity. I see no reason for celebrating it’s differences. And they did play “O Canada” – it’s not like the sang La Marseillaise.

  27. This broadcast lacks a sense of occasion. I know it’s the Fire broadcast, but franchise home opener is a big deal. I want to see more of what’s going on

    Reply
  28. Quebec is not a separate country. And the city of Montreal has 50 percent english speaking population. Not that what language they speak is even relevant.

    Reply
  29. Im shocked that Garber lets them get away with this while hes standing right there. What anthem willl they sing, Quebecs one?

    Reply
  30. I would be quite shocked if it was something other than a mixture of nitrogen (78%), oxygen (21%), and other gases (1%).
