The Portland Timbers avoided suffering their first defeat of the season, and they can thank Darlington Nagbe for that.

Minutes after entering the game, Nagbe scored the equalizer for the Timbers in their 1-1 draw with FC Dallas at FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco, Texas on Saturday night. Nagbe's goal, his first of the season, canceled out a Blaz Perez finish in the first half.

Perez opened his MLS scoring account in the 22nd minute, knocking in a rebound after Timbers goalkeeper Troy Perkins saved a shot from Bryan Levya.

Playing without star winger Brek Shea, FC Dallas continued to pile on the pressure but a mistake by Daniel Hernandez allowed Portland to pull level. Hernandez mis-hit a backpass in the 51st minute and Nagbe, who entered the game at halftime, raced onto the ball and fired it past a helpless Kevin Hartman to pull things level.

Both Western Conference teams are now 1-0-1 to start the season.
